106c: The Signum key Pt 1 – Act 3

Penny, Brett and Megan sat at one of the picnic tables that live around the main campus of the college. After the unusual encounter with the strange teenager penny wasn’t entirely sure what to do next.

“So all she said was that Brant might be in trouble?” Megan asked

“Yeah,” Penny replied, “Something about the chamber getting him.”

“How does she know?” Brett inquired

“I don’t know but she knew who I was the minute she saw me.”

Brett leaned on the table.

“Is it just me or have things gotten really weird ever since we got that disk?”

“Yeah things are definitely not the ordinary run-of-the-mill weird we’re use to.” Megan replied, “What’s the next move captain?”

Penny stood up from the table. She looked at Brett and Megan casually.

“You guys go back to whatever I’ll swing by the museum and see if Brant’s okay.”

“Yes sir.” Brett joked as penny began to walk of, “Oh, hey, I gotta ask something.”

Penny turned back to look at her boyfriend.

“what?”

“This girl, was she kinda short with long dark hair, bulky clothes and a touch on the nervous side?”

Penny looked at Brett strangely.

“Yeah,” She replied curiously, “How did you know?”

Brett shrugged.

“Lucky guess.”

Shooting one last suspicious look she turned and walked away. Megan folded her arms and looked at the hacker curiously.

“Alright what was that about?” she asked

Brett reached into his back pocket. He pulled out the envelope that Heidi handed to him yesterday and looked at it curiously.

“I don’t know but I have this weird feeling I’m gonna find out.”

~ Hotel room, phoenix Arizona ~

Heidi closed the front door to the room. she walked over and sat on her bed. so far everything was going the way she saw it she just hopped that what she was doing was going to be enough. Willow walked out of the kitchenette and smiled at the girl.

“Oh, hey, how was your walk?” she asked in a friendly manner

“Good.” Heidi replied softly

“That’s nice.” Willow replied trying to hide the uncertainty in her voice

Willow felt very uncomfortable around Heidi. This was mainly because she had a great deal of trouble trying to read her for some reason she was able to block her power without the help of any charms or talismans which made the goddess wonder exactly where this girl came from. Just then the door opened again and Angel moved swiftly into the room.

“Willow, Oh hey Heidi, got the address of the airport.”

“Let’s go.” willow replied

Heidi watched as Willow and Angel prepared. She knew exactly where Penny was but it wasn’t the right time for them to know. Pieces still needed to be in their right place.

~ The Industrial Airport, Phoenix Arizona – 30 minutes later ~

Heidi walked slowly around the main terminal. She was absorbing what had happened and was trying to make sense of the images flowing into her mind. while she was doing that Angel met up with one of the airport staff. he pulled out the photo of Penny and showed him.

“You seen her?” he asked

The look in the staff member’s eye already answered his question but he had to hear the words.

“Oh yeah I saw her alright, poor girl,” he replied

“When?”

“About two or three months ago. These large men had her tied up and demanded that I find them the plane they ordered.”

“Do you remember which plane it was?”

The staff member shook his head.

“No, before I could type it up the computers went crazy. I didn’t have time to enter it.”

Angel sighed heavily.

“Thanks a lot for your help.”

“I hope you find her.” The staff member said

“So do I.” Angel replied

Angel left the desk and rejoined Heidi and Willow.

“Any luck?” Willow asked

“This is the right airport but we still don’t know which plane.”

“That one.” Heidi said pointing out the window at a cargo plane sitting on the tarmac.

“You sure?” Willow asked

Heidi nodded.

“T-they put her in it. tried to force her back b-but he helped her stop them.”

“Who helped Heidi?” Angel asked

Heidi looked up at the vampire seriously.

“T-The old man . . . the one with the bird.”

Angel and willow looked at each other. That made absolutely no sense but from what they heard this girl has an uncanny knack for being right.

Brad sat in the cockpit of his plane and double check his instruments. He had a big shipment he had to deliver that night and he wanted to be ready. He looks out the front window to see three people walk up to his jet. Curious he climbed out of his seat and went outside.

“Can I help you people?” he asked as Angel Willow and Heidi arrived

“Yeah do you know anything about the kidnapping of a woman named Penny Whitfield?” Angel asked

Brad thought about this for a moment

“Think I read about something like that in the paper,” he replied, “why are you asking me?”

Angel showed him the picture.

“Ever seen this woman?”

Brad smiled at the photo.

“I’d think I’d remember a girl like that.” he smirked but suddenly realized what Angel was talking about, “Wait you don’t think I took her did you?”

“Did you?” Willow asked

“Hey there all I ship is boxes okay! No human cargo!”

“What about the two men?”

“What the hell are you talking about lady?”

Willow walked slowly up to Brad.

“I’m in a good mood at the moment but if you keep lying to me that’s gonna fade real quick. Did you fly the two men and Penny in your plane?”

“No I didn’t.” Brad replied seriously

Willow stared at him for a moment. she turned and started to walk back to the terminal.

“Let’s go this guy knows nothing.” she said seriously

Brad watched the three of them leave. Once they were out of sight he banged on the side of the plane twice. From the main cargo hold The Wanderer jumped down and walked up next to him.

“You’re right somebody’s trying to find her.” brad said seriously

“Thought as much,” The Wanderer replied, “thanks for the heads up.”

“I’m just glad I was at the hotel when these two attacked the manager. Any idea who they are?”

The Wanderer shook his head.

“Nope, But the man had vampire written all over him.”

Brad looked at The Wanderer confused.

“But it’s day time.”

“That’s what makes it worse.”

Inside the terminal Willow Angel and Heidi stopped near one of the large support columns.

“So?” Angel asked

“He was definitely covering something,” willow replied, “I’m just not sure what. what ever he was doing was interfering with my power.”

“Which mean’s he knew what we are and that we were coming.”

“We’re kinda running out of leads here Angel.”

“I know.”

“What are we going to do?”

“T-The watcher knows.” Heidi said softly

Angel and Willow looked over to the teenager with interest.

“What watcher?” Angel asked

~ The Museum of Natural History, los Angeles California ~

Brant hurriedly packed his bag for his trip to Raleighfield. Nigel’s warning seemed too serious to delay so he wanted to leave as soon as possible. To keep the Signum Key safe brant placed it behind the false panel he had on one of his benches. This is where he stored a lot of stuff he used during his time as a watcher and knew it was the safest place for it for the interim. Just as he slung his bag over his shoulder he heard the door to his office close.

“Brant Jennings?” a male voice asked

Brant looked over to the man curiously. He recognized him the instant he laid eyes on him. slowly he dropped him bag on the floor as Angel stepped into the light.

“We need to talk.” Angel said seriously . . .
