USS SUNNYDALE
EARTH ORBIT
Giles paces back and forth in the conference room. He had just gotten back from Starfleet headquarters where he talked to Admiral Travers. It was confirmed....Faith was dead. Everyone was stunned by the news.
GILES-
"There will be a memorial service at 0800 tomorrow. Dismissed..uh...Buffy, Willow will you stay behind." The others left the room and Giles motion them to sit down. "After the service tomorrow, I want you two to take a shuttlecraft and find out what happened?"
BUFFY-
"You don't buy the cover story?"
GILES-
"Faith may be indeed dead, but a transporter accident is extremely rare in Earth orbit. I want to find out what the hell happened."
WILLOW-
"That freighter is still here....we should start by checking the transporter log."
GILES-
"In the meantime, we will return to DS9 and I'll update Sisko. Whatever you find, don't transmit it over subspace. Report in person. Good luck."
The next day, the crew assembles in one of the torpedo bays. Resting on the lauching is a coffee with a Federation flag drapped over it. Giles and Buffy both make statement and the coffee is placed in the launcher. Outside the ship, a red streak flies through space. A couple of hours later, Buffy and Willow take Shuttlecraft 7 and heads towards the freighter. They watch as the Sunnydale jumps to Warp.
PLANET D'FOGON
Faith rests on the dusty edge of the cliff overlooking the Marquis camp. She is dressed in cillivan clothing and she has a sniper rifle in her hands. She looks down the scope, and scans the encampment. Finally, she spots Spike sitting next to a campfire. She places her finger on the trigger, and takes a deep breath. She lets out her breath and takes her finger off the trigger. She can't do it. Faith gets up and digs the rifle.
In the camp, she keeps her hat down low over her eyes. Inside her coat, her hand rests on a phaser. She walks up behind Spike and pulls the phaser out. Spike gets up and walks into a tent. She follows him in and points the phaser at him.
FAITH-
"Don't move."
SPIKE-
"Who are you?" Faith removes her hat, showing Spike who she was. "Ah....Faith. How are you?"
FAITH-
"I'm here to kill you."
SPIKE-
"So....do it."
FAITH-
"No, I want to know why." She lowers her phaser and smiles.
SPIKE-
"Well, love. What do you know about bio-genetic weapons?"
FREIGHTER DE SOTO
EARTH ORBIT
Kassidy shows Willow the transporter logs while Buffy interviews some of the crew.
KASSIDY-
"I'm really sorry, Commander. We have no idea what happened."
WILLOW-
"Has anyone else used it since?"
KASSIDY-
"No." Willow starts looking through the logs. She finds the timeframe when Faith was transported. There it is.
WILLOW-
"Hey...hey....look at this. There's a second beam embedded within Faith's beam....and it goes to...Luna?" Willow taps her combadge. "Buffy get to the transporter room quickly." Once Buffy arrives, Willow tells her what she found.
BUFFY-
"That means....that Faith is alive."
WILLOW-
"I think we should get to Luna right away."
BUFFY-
"Right. Captain Yates thank you, but please don't inform DS9."
KASSIDY-
"But Ben would want to know about this."
BUFFY-
"I know he would. But if Section 31 finds out what we know, it could jepordize what we are doing...getting our friend back."
