Downstairs, Dawn was anxious to know what was wrong with Spike.
Buffy came downstairs and sighed. “Dawn, wait one second. Lemme tell the girls.”
Buffy walked outside and Ashley came up to her. “What’s wrong?”
“Girls, Spike wont be training with today. I don’t know if he’ll be training tomorrow. There’s something wrong with him and I cant figure it out,” Buffy said. “Ashley and Kennedy are training with the rest of you so they’re in charge.”
The girls nodded and Buffy went inside. “Buffy?” Dawn asked.
“I don’t know what’s wrong with him. I think he needs a different blood diet. The blood might be bad,” Buffy said.
“What are we supposed to give him?” Dawn asked.
Buffy looked at her. “I guess I’ll give him a little bit of mine for now,” she said.
“How about we both give him some,” Dawn said.
“Dawn…” Buffy started.
“Just a little. Buffy please. I love him and I want him to get better,” Dawn said.
“Okay. I wanna talk to Willow to see if she can find anything and we’ll feed him in a little while,” Buffy said.
A few hours later, Buffy and Dawn brought a mug of their blood up to Spike.
Buffy set the mug on her nightstand and laid her hand on Spike’s cheek. “Spike?”
Spike’s eyes fluttered open and he smiled at his two girls. “Hey,” he said, softly.
“We brought you something to eat,” Buffy said, as he sat up.
“Thanks Pet,” Spike said, taking the mug from her.
Buffy and Dawn watched as Spike drained all the blood.
Spike looked up at Buffy. “Did you do something to the blood?”
“Its human,” Buffy said, softly.
Spike’s eyes widened. “Why did you give me human blood?”
“It’s mine and Dawn’s,” Buffy said. “We wanna make sure you’re gunna be okay. If its’ the blood we had to try something else.”
“Buffy, it’s nice that you’re concerned but human blood, especially yours, isn’t a good idea. And you cant be giving me your blood either,” Spike growled.
“Spike, something’s wrong with you,” Dawn whimpered. “And we don’t want anything to happen to you.”
Spike’s eyes softened. “Sorry,” he said, pushing her hair back.
Dawn laid beside him and snuggled in to his arms. “Willow’s looking into it. She might find
something,” she said.
Spike looked at Buffy. “Lets see what Willow finds before changing my diet,” he said.
Buffy nodded. “Okay. Are you feeling better?” She asked.
“I’m still really tired,” he said, softly.
“That’s okay. You’re not training or patrolling until you’re better,” Buffy said, standing. “You guys can stay up there and hang if you want. I have to take care of things downstairs so I’ll be up later.”
Buffy kissed Spike’s forehead softly before leaving.
Spike looked down at Dawn who was now asleep. He smiled and settled down with her to sleep with himself.
Buffy trudged up the stairs several hours later. Will told her there was a prophecy of a vampire with a soul, becoming human. It was possible that Spike was going through the changes to become human.
She opened her bedroom door and smiled. Spike and Dawn were still cuddled together sound asleep on her bed. She changed her clothes and gently slid in beside Spike before going to sleep.
In the morning, when Spike woke, he smiled at his two girls but then frowned at he splitting headache. It was so bad it caused him to go back to sleep.
Then next time he rose, Dawn was gone but Buffy was there and she was awake. She smiled at him. “You okay?” She asked, running her hands over his face.
“I feel different,” Spike said.
Buffy’s hand went to his chest. “You’re alive,” she whispered.
Spike’s eyes widened and he sat up. “What?”
“You’re alive. It was a prophecy. Willow found it and that’s why you’ve been the way you are the past couple of days. Are you gunna be able to handle it?” She asked.
“I don’t know,” Spike said.
Buffy sat up and kissed him lovingly. “You can take some time to get used to it. I’m gunna be here for you if you need me,” she said.
“I always need you,” Spike said, looking at her.
“Then I’m here,” Buffy said, kissing him softly again.
