That night at the Bronze, Niki drew Buffy aside and told her to go outside with her. When they got out into the alley, the first thing Buffy saw was Angel. "Hiya buff! who's your friend?" Angel asked. Just then Buffy stood aside allowing Angel to see Niki. "Hi Angel, long time no see. Miss Me???"
Angel's game face appeared and he lunged at Buffy. Niki was too quick for him, knocking Buffy out of his way before he could reach her. Angel and Niki grabbed one another, each competing to gain the upper hand. "Read it!!" Niki yelled to Buffy. Buffy looked blank at first then started reading the manuscript Niki had given her earlier in the Bronze. As she read she noticed a change in the fight between Angel and Niki. It intensified until Buffy reached the end of the passage. Then with a flash of blue light both Niki and Angel collapsed to the ground unconscious. Xander, Willow, Cordelia and Oz ran out of the Bronze to find Buffy staring mystified at the two crumpled bodies. Giles walked up to them saying "Niki told me to be here and what to do next. We've got to take these two back to the Library. Then wait."
Back at the Library everyone sat dumfounded, silently watching Angel and Niki. Slowly they stirred, Buffy grabbed a stake and everyone else stood back as Angel sat up. "Hold on Buff, it worked" Niki said " Well all, I've got some good news and some bad. The good news is that Angel is once again with a soul. In fact this time his soul is here to stay. The bad news is; to give Angel his soul I had to give up my immortality. Looks like I'm finally gonna have a normal life. Which also means I'm kinda here to stay, or slay as the case may be. Now I think it's time to leave and let Buffy and Angel talk."
They all nodded and walked out of the Library leaving Buffy and Angel alone. They stood in silence for five minutes trying to come to terms with what had just happened. Angel was the first to speak "I'm sorry Buffy. I'll understand if can't trust me anymore. What I've done...." Buffy interrupted him with a kiss, "I've always Loved you, even without your soul I couldn't help loving you."
