Buffy, Giles, Willow, Xander, Cordelia and Oz were in the Library waiting for Niki to arrive. Buffy had already filled Giles in on some of last nights surprise events. Willow had hacked into Ms. Calendar's files, finding the letters she'd sent Niki, regarding Angel's transformation back into a vampire without a soul. "The one thing I don't get" questioned Cordelia, "Is why Ms. Calendar knew to write to Niki . What was so special abot her?
"Aside from her great slice and dice staking technique" quipped Xander -receiving a punch in the arm from Cordelia.
"Shutup and let them tell us what's going on" Willow said.
Just then Niki walked in the door. "Guess this is the official meeting place of the slayer and slayerettes. Hiya all."
Niki, Buffy and Giles filled everyone in on all the details of Niki's curse
"Princess!!" Cordelia choked. "What's this about her being a princess? Since when do princesses wear a mini and fitted top? Where's the crown??? Give me a break!!"
"Sorry Cordelia, I never really went in for the crown thing. After 90 odd years it becomes a pain in the ass."
"So..." Buffy said trying to sum things up, "the reason you're here is ‘cos you can't stand Angel and you want to kill him.?!"
"If push comes to shove.Gotta run, we've got a math class to go to. Coming Buffy? Xander?" With that Niki picked up her algebra books and sailed out the door.
"Well we'd all better head off to class" said Willow, picking up her books. "See you all later"
That night at the Bronze Buffy turned to Niki and asked: "That night last week, when you were talking about love and miracles, you knew I loved Angel. Didn't you? And if you did then what did you mean? If you were here to kill him why feed me all that nonsense about miracles!!?"
"Relax Buffy!! You're the one who jumped to the conclusion that ny mission in life was to kill Angel. All I said was that I was hunting him down to ‘Make amends'. Doesn't mean I'm on some ‘slice and dice' mission (as Xander would put it), out to illiminate him from the face of the earth. I meant what I said about miracles. I really do want to help you if I can. Just remember, when the time comes I need you to trust me to do what I say. Now what do you say to a little shish kebabing, I believe I just saw a member of ‘UNDEAD R US' walking out the door."
"You're on. Let's go kick some vampire Butt!"
Buffy and Niki headed out the door to start another Vampire patrol.
"Congratulations Girls" Giles said the next morning in the Library. "The two of you managed to stake twenty Vampires last night."
"Must be some kind of a record" Willow interjected.
"As I was saying" continued Giles, "The two of you work remarkably well together. I just hope you're not taking too many unneccessary risks."
"Don't worry, We're not" Buffy and Niki replied in unison.
"So when's the Stake the soulless Angel hunt? We all want in" Xander said
"Patience Xander. Buffy and I aren't going to anything about the Angel problem ‘till we're good and ready. We've got just a bit more work to do before then." Niki said, smiling at Buffy. Even if everyone else thought she was here only to kill Angelus, Buffy knew the truth.
Later that night Buffy and Niki were alone in the school Library.
"I can't believe I'm sneaking into the Library at 1am in the morning just to look for a book. I mean since we're pally with the Librarian you'd think we might just ask if he knew where it was." Buffy moaned
"Come on, Buffy. You know why we're here now. The less people who don't know we're not out to kill Angel the more likely we'll actually be able to get this soul thing done. As long as Angel thinks I'm here purely to stake him one through the heart we've got the upper hand. He'll be waiting for a full on assault not a soul restoration. Now quit talking and look for that book. We're gonna need my Grandmother's book of incantations if we want to restore Angel's soul."
The next day a very tired Buffy and Niki showed up for training in the Library. "What have you two been doing?" Giles questioned. "Have the two of you been doing some all night rave thing whilst you've suppossed to be resting and training. I don't know how you think you'll be able to handle Angel if you carry on like that. Niki, as the older of the two of you I'd have thought you'd have known better than to go gallivanting around whilst in training."
"Sorry Giles" they both replied.
"It's not what it seems, Giles" Niki assured him. "We spent the night researching Angel's Hunting patterns. We didn't want to disturb you as we knew you had a lot of other important research to do. So we logged on to the net and tried to get as much information as we could."
"Oh alright then. I guess the two of you can skip training this afternoon. Just make sure you get some rest tonight."
"Thanks Giles" Buffy called out as she and Niki left the building.
