The next morning, Buffy went downstairs and had to smile at Spike leaning against the doorway watching the girls. His duster was flowing around him making him look more like Spike.
Buffy went over and stood next to him. “Having fun?” She asked.
Spike smiled down at her. “Morning,” he said.
“What made you go get this?” She asked, running her hands over the leather.
“I don’t feel like myself without it. It’ll help me fight better,” he said.
Buffy smiled a little. “Go downstairs and I’ll be down in a minute,” she said.
Spike did as he was told as Buffy spoke to the girls. “Ashley, Laura, Kari, Jamie, Allie, and Gina. You guys are going to train first because you’re new. Kennedy take the remaining girls out back and work out. Just don’t be so hard on them. I’ll meet you 6 girls downstairs when you’re done,” She said, going to the basement.
Spike stopped pacing and put his hands on his hips as Buffy came down.
“6 of the newest girls are coming down in a few minutes. Spike, down here we’re vampire and slayer. Not Spike and Buffy. Can you do that?” Buffy asked, standing in front of him.
“You bet. After last night, no one gets off easy,” he said.
Buffy smiled as the girls came down. “Okay girls. First, each of you are gunna spar
with Spike while I take notes. Then you’re gunna spar
with me while Spike takes notes. That way we can determine what needs the most work on each of you individually. Don’t hold back when you hit. Spike and I can handle it but we aren’t gunna hold back either which means you’re gunna get hurt. Then when you girls are done Spike and I will show what happens in the real world,” she said.
Buffy moved to the side and picked up her notepad. “Ashley since you just arrived yesterday, you’re going first. Girls, please move to the side and watch,” she said.
Spike and Ashley began sparring and Spike immediately had Ashley on her back but she shot her foot up to his chin.
Buffy watched in amazement as they fought. They were evenly matched the whole way.
“Whoa,” Buffy said, as Spike took a hard hit. “Have you done this before?”
“I’m part demon. So I have some strength. I’ve been training with my watcher since I was little,” Ashley said.
Buffy smiled. “Well you don’t need improving but go upstairs and tell Erin to come down. You can train with the others if you want,” she said.
Spike and Ashley smiled as she bounced upstairs.
“She came pretty close to you Pet,” Spike said, taking off his duster and flexing his arms.
“Laura, you’re up,” Buffy said.
Several hours later, the girls were all sprawled on the floor, exhausted.
“You guys take a break. Spike and I have to patrol soon,” Buffy said, going upstairs.
Spike made sure no one was around and collapsed to the floor.
Buffy sat next to him. “You okay?” She asked.
“I think don’t hold back did the trick,” he groaned.
“Come on,” Buffy said, puling him to his feet. “We can relax before we patrol,” she said, taking him upstairs.
Spike allowed Buffy to sit him on her bed and instantly laid down.
Buffy rolled him over and rubbed his back. “I think Ashley should come patrolling with us,” she said.
“Cant you just go with her Pet? You wore me out,” Spike mumbled as Buffy rubbed his back.
Buffy smiled. “I guess,” she said. “You should just stay up here and sleep.”
“I don’t know if I’ll be able to spar with 6 potentials,” he said. “I don’t know how you did it.”
“I’m on automatic when I’m the slayer,” Buffy said. “I don’t feel anything. But you get some rest and tomorrow I wont spar with you since you always get your butt kicked.”
“That I do,” Spike said, closing his eyes.
Buffy massages his aching muscles until he fell asleep. She kissed his temple and left for patrol.
When she came back from patrol Spike was in the same spot. She changed her clothes and slid in next to him. She was under the comforter and he was on top so she figured he’d be alright in the morning.
