Later that same night Dawn caught up to Xander as he sat by the pool star gazing. “Are you in any mood to continue the story?” Dawn asked, bracing herself for disappointment. Xander had been very quiet at dinner and had walked off by himself shortly after.

“Sure,” he surprisingly answered. “So there I was in the clutches of a knife wielding maniac…”

“We’re past this part.”

“You sure?”

“Yep, Orion came in through the window, guy sprouted wings and flew away.”

“Oh, right. Well we got back to my room and filled Lucas in on what had happened….”

Xander had never seen a dog so obviously trying to laugh itself silly, but that was exactly what Lucas was doing when the phone rang. Orion answered and listened to someone going into some detail about something. After awhile Orion hung up the phone and looked over to Xander.

“Fah Mi Xing and her brood have just got into town,” was all he said for explanation as he pulled a duffle bag out from under the bed. Xander watched as Orion started pulling a small arsenal out. Two over/under crossbows that would make Buffy drool, along with a quiver of wood bolts, a water gun of the “I want to put out a house fire” variety with a backpack for a tank, two bandoliers of stakes, a shotgun, two large pistols, a pair of wicked looking knives, and a tranquilizer pistol.

“What do I get to carry?” Xander asked as he looked at the pile.

“This thing,” Orion said tapping the backpack tank attached to the water cannon, “ is heavy, and too cumbersome for my fighting style, but the payload is worth the inconvenience.

“Holy water?”

“Fire water,” Orion answered. “Lucas, yourself or I get splashed and all that happens is we get wet. It touches demonic or dead skin however and whoosh, bonfire.”

Xander reached for the weapon, “death from a distance, sounds good to me.” With the water cannon came a bandolier and the shotgun. “I never thought I’d carry a shotgun as a back up weapon!”

A few hours later the two hunters were parked outside “The Fabulous Ladies Night Club” staring at the wide open back door.

“Did you know they would come here?” Xander asked his companion.

“Yes”

“If you had told me I could have warned my friends, and my boss, and … and.

“And warned her someone was on to her when she found the club mysteriously empty on dress rehearsal night.” Orion admonished. “Are you coming to save anyone left inside?” Xander got out of the car and Orion helped him put the tank on his back.

“You’re an ass.”

The clubs lights were on and the two could clearly see movement inside. They moved as silently as they could and Xander found himself noticing every little noise as you do when your trying to move quietly. They reached the door simultaneously and Orion went in first and turned almost instantly to stop Xander from going in.
“You don’t want to see this,” Orion told his younger companion, but Xander pushed his way inside. Three of the clubs most sought after dancers were hanging upside down over the bar, bloodstained mugs laid out underneath them.

“So where are the vampires I’m gonna kill?” Xander asked while scanning the club for any sign of them.

“I don’t know, this isn’t their pattern.”

“AWWW, THE BIG BAD HUNTERS CAN’T FIND US,” a French accented voice said booming out over the loud speakers.

Xander immediately yelled out, “DJ booth, nine o’clock high!”

Orion turned and fired blind, only to have his bolt lodge in the safety glass wall around the booth. The blond vampiress behind the glass started to laugh, but just then a boom from behind Orion told him Xander had brought his shotgun into play, and the cross shaped buck-shot tore the pane of safety glass off its moorings. Orion pulled the second trigger on his crossbow and this bolt flew true, dusting the demon.

Three female vamps popped out from behind the bar wielding an assortment of guns themselves. Orion fired his last two bolts and dove for cover, dropping the cumbersome crossbows. Xander had noticed the ambush behind the bar and ducked behind some cover as well. Orion looked at his young friend to see if he had any ideas and noticed him holding up a piece of thin wood and then looking at the bar. Orion saw his intent and nodded, pulling his matching .40 S&W pistols. Orion came around the corner of his alcove and started firing into the cheaply made bar, and as the three demons brought their guns to bear on him, Xander pulled the trigger of his super-soaker. The middle vamp caught the spray directly in the face, and started to burn immediately, as did the puddle of cheep liquor that had pooled at the feet of her two associates. Soon all three had burned to dust and the sprinkler system for the club turned on.

“Four down, nine to go,” Xander yelled happily as he got up from behind the small wall he had dove behind. Orion smiled at his enthusiasm as he reholstered the two empty pistols. Grabbing his two crossbows off the floor he reloaded both handing Xander one.

“The fire water won’t work in this downpour,” Orion told him as he helped get him out of the back pack. Just then four female vamps darted out of the restrooms and charged the two friends. Orion dusted one immediately with his crossbow, but the water logged mechanism wouldn’t fire the second bolt, so he tossed it aside and pulled Callie out of his trench coat. Xander had better luck than usual since he forgot which hand held which weapon and fired the shotgun at the other two first. The blast knocked them back screaming. However Xander’s crossbow wouldn’t fire at all, so he emptied the shotgun into his two and them staked them easily with stakes from his bandolier.

Xander looked up from his stakings just as Orion decapitated his last vamp. “Eight down; five to go,” the older hunter told him. Just then something bit Xander’s arm he looked down at the strange red feathered dart sticking out from there and managed to realize what had happened just as he started to black out. “Fuck me,” he heard Orion say as he collapsed to the floor.

“Xander I need a potty break,” Dawn said. “Don’t you dare move a muscle from that pool chair until I get back.”

“Sure thing Minx.” Xander told her as she walked toward the bathrooms. While watching her go Xander realized he was unconsciously rubbing the slight scar on his left bicep, shaped like a perfect circle.
