Buffy watches from the waiting room in sickbay. Anya moves the tricorder over Dawn, who was now just waking up. Anya looks over at Buffy and waves her in. She walks over to her little sister, and touches her forehead.
BUFFY-
"Hey, how are you?"
DAWN-
"A little sore. What happened?"
BUFFY-
"We were attacked and I guess that they hit the navigation controls. The helm console exploded in your face."
ANYA-
"Well, I repaired the burns to her arms, and the two broken ribs. She should rest now. So...leave now." Buffy kisses Dawn on the forehead and leaves sickbay.
She walks through the ship, thinking about Giles and the Bird of Prey that attacked them. Normally, an Intrepid class starship would be able to hold it's own against a ship like that. She enters the turbolift and goes up to the senior officer's briefing room. She enters the room to see Faith, Willow, Tara, and Xander already there. Wesley was running late. He enters the room just as Buffy sits down. Her eyes lock on to Wesley's collar...four round silver pins, a captain's insignia.
BUFFY-
"What the hell is that?"
WESLEY-
"Commander Summers, you will call me by my rank."
BUFFY-
"This is still Giles's ship."
WESLEY-
"Commander Summers, after this you will report to the brig."
FAITH-
"What....."
XANDER-
"Commander, you can't do this."
BUFFY-
"This isn't right." She storms out of the briefing room.
WESLEY-
"Now....will you set a course for Deep Space Nine."
Buffy storms into her quarters, she can see the star pattern outside change, they were moving.
BUFFY-
"Computer....records on Wesley Wyndam-Pryce."
COMPUTER-
"Wyndam-Pryce, Wesley...Commander...First Officer USS Sunnydale."
BUFFY-
"Computer, any record of Commander Wyndam-Pryce being promoted to Captain."
COMPUTER-
"Negative." Buffy leans back in her chair.
BUFFY-
"Computer...contact Captain Angel, USS Los Angeles."
A few moments later, Buffy is looking at the face of her former love.
ANGEL-
"Your right, Buffy. Starfleet doesn't promote someone to Captain just like that. I remembered I had to go in front of three promotion boards to get my command."
BUFFY-
"Really, he is in command. But instead of going after Giles...he has ordered us to DS9."
ANGEL-
"We due at DS9 in three hours. I check with Captain Sisko to see if he has heard anything."
BUFFY-
"Angel....uh...have you heard from him? You know lately."
ANGEL-
"Spike? Not since you're boyfriend joined the Marquis."
BUFFY-
"He wasn't my boyfriend."
ANGEL-
"Sure....I'll get back with you." The computer goes blank.
