Inside the building was just as disgusting and decrepit as the outside. It was cold, drafty, and eerily quiet. April stayed close to Willow as they made their way down the corridor. Her heart was pounding painfully in her chest.
They approached a closed door with a brass plate on it that read 16. The plate was dull and the door was old. Everything about the building seemed old and run-down. Willow tapped on the door. For a minute April thought they would be fortunate and no one would be in, but the door slid open.
The pair entered a darkened room, filled with all sorts of frightening people. April suppressed a scream, and instead took hold of Willow’s arm in a panic.
“Willow? Where the hell are we?” she whispered.
“Calm down,” Willow replied, “Just sit down on that couch and I’ll be right back.” As she pulled away, April shot a glance at the aforementioned couch. There was space enough for her to sit down, but unfortunately that space was surrounded by monsters.
One thing had parsley green skin and big bulging eyes. Another sported horns and four inch claws on his hands. There was a cluster of regular looking people on the other side of the room, but April would have been willing to bet they were vampires. She shuddered and took a piece of wall space close to the door.
Several people were eyeing her with frightening curiosity. She stayed huddled against the wall, trying to steady her rapid, panicked breathing. She closed her eyes and prayed it would be over soon.
