Dr. Rod Lynch strode confidently into the hospital. Unlike most doctors who arrive at the crack of dawn he manages to get to his job at a decent hour. Being a specialist his hours varied from that of the normal medical staff. He entered his office to discover a man sitting across the other side of his desk. He looked at him curiously as the man got to his feet.

“Dr Lynch?” the man asked

“Yes,” the doctor replied, “May I help you?”

“My name is Judson Fox I represent the law firm Wolfram and Hart.” The man replied

Judson stuck out his hand and Dr. Lynch shook it hesitantly.

“I’m not being sued am I?” he asked cautiously

Judson laughed lightly

“No, no this is purely consultation,” Judson replied, “We need your expertise on one of our cases you are, after all, the leading I.V.F. specialist in the city are you not?”

“That’s right. What is it a maternity case?”

Judson smiled mischievously.

“Something like that.” he replied

~ Warehouse, Los Angeles California – the day before ~

“We have gone to get out of the city Morden!” Dorian snapped, “Before they find us!”

The aged vampire looked at his minion.

“Patience Dorian everything is arranged,” Morden replied, “There is no reason to fret after all they are only slayers.”

“Yeah, that would have been okay if there was only two like before. But the city is crawling with them now, hundreds of them all over the place. A vampire can walk around this city without running into one of them.”

“They are still human and can be dealt with.”

Dorian ran his hands through his blond hair he looked around the sizable warehouse full of vampires many of them having trouble standing because they haven fed in months.”

“Look at them all Morden! They’re in no condition to fight humans let alone an army of slayers.”

Morden shot an angry glare at his minion.

“They will fight because I wish it!” Morden snapped,”There will plenty of time to leave the city once the vermin had been purged.”

There was a large crash. Vampires scuttled out of the way as the doors to the warehouse crashed onto the ground. Through the doorway walked Faith and Rona and behind them was an army of a hundred slayers.

Faith folded her arms and tilted her head curiously at the head vampire.

“Hey Rona,” she asked, “Did that sound like a threat to you?”

“Yeah it did.” Rona replied

“You know what? Don’t like threats ‘specially when they come from vamps.”

Morden rose up to his full height.

“Kill them!” he yelled

Faith shrugged at the aging vampire.

“Alright if you want!” she replied s she staked the first vampire

The battle was furious slayer and vampires everywhere. From the giant cloud of dust forming in the room Morden knew that he was not going to win this fight it had been too long since any of them ate. Quickly he got out of his seat and turned to leave. Behind him Faith stood arms folded.

“Yo ugly you weren’t plannin’ on leaving half way trough the party were you?” she asked

“Out of my way slayer.” Morden demanded

“Nah,” Faith replied, “I have a better idea. I was thinkin’ of beating the crap out of you.”

“You can not possibly win against me,” The vampire boomed, “I am the great Morden! Slayer of millions of your kind the scourge of . . .”

“Sorry, your résumé is great and all, but were just not hiring. Why don’t you try the video barn down the street?”

Morden snarled. He tried to swing out with a punch but Faith caught it, spun into him, and elbowed him in the face. She kneed him in the stomach and finished off with a round house kick to the head. The giant vampire fell onto the ground hard. He looked up with a look of hell fire and before Faith knew it he was back on his feet.

“Damn man your fast!” she said

He smiled wickedly at her. That was until he noticed the smile on her face. He looked down to see the stake protruding from his chest.

“It’s a shame I’m faster.” She concluded

He had long enough to mouth a few choice words before he crumbled to dust. Faith looked around the warehouse beaming happily. The rest of the slayers had finished of their battles. Ever since the spell willow had cast on the Scythe the vampires were forced into hiding making killing them a lot easier. From her pocket she pulled out her cell phone and dialed a number.

“Yeah it me,” Faith said, “This place is dust. Scratch it off the 'to kill' list.”

~The Unnamed Club, Los Angeles California ~

“Good get the girls back here.” Dawn replied

She hung up the phone and joined Robin Wood at the giant map of the city. Although most of the club was still under construction they moved their base of operations from Dawns house. It had taken some planning and a lot of creative lying to the city to get it built but they all knew it’s purpose. When the club was only just an idea Faith suggested the idea of making it part nightclub so the girls had somewhere to relax after the long nights of patrolling. The only thing left was the naming which none of them had any idea what to call it.

Robin and Dawn looked at the map on the board.

“That’s the nest on the south side of town cleared.” Dawn said

Robin picked up a red pin and placed it on the maps.

“Looks like we’re making progress.” He said

“Yeah.” Dawn replied in a disbelieving tone

Robin looked over to her curiously

“You don’t sound convinced.”

“No we are, it’s just, we used a lot of the girls on that nest tonight leaving most of the city un-patrolled. Who knows what happened in those areas while we were it out.”

Robin sighed and folded his arms.

“I know it’s not the best system but it’s all we got at the moment.”

Just then they heard the front door to the club close.

“Hello?” A male voice asked

“Back here.” Dawn called out

After a few short moments Xander walked into the office.

“Hey you two,” He said cheerfully, “Just thought I swing by and see how the killings were going.”

Dawn shot him a playful annoyed looks she only reserved for him. Xander smirked and joined them at the board.

“We cleared out a nest tonight.” Dawn replied

“Another one, that’s like five this week, Geez Dawn at this rate you’re gonna put yourself out of business.”

“I wish,” Dawn replied studding the board closely.

Xander studied the 21 year old closely. She had matured so much since the Sunnydale Hellmouth was sealed. She had buckle down and concentrated hard on her studies and when the time was right Buff was more then happy to hand over the reigns of the L.A. part of the slayer operations to her. With her came Faith and Robin. The both of them maintain the slayers training and sometimes they head up teams to clear out certain areas while Dawn handled the administration and co-ordination of the operation. Xander smiled and joined her at the board.

“What’s the problem?”

“Where focusing on to smaller areas with our attacks. We need something to even it out.” Dawn replied thoughtfully

“What? Like a zoning system?” Xander replied

Dawn looked over to Xander curiously

“Huh?”

“A zoning system, that’s how city workers do it, L.A. is divided up into small pieces and the workers only work in that area.”

Dawn looked back at the board a light smile crossing her face.

“That might work,” she replied, “what do you think Robin?”

Robin studied the board.

“It’ll definitely cover the city evenly. I’d say teams of three to five slayers, depending on the zone, would be more then enough.”

“Alright!” Xander exclaimed, “Score one for the Xand-Man!”

He noticed the look Robin and Dawn where giving him.

“To much?” he continued

Dawn nodded at him. Xander sighed playfully.

“I got to get going you guys are still right to pick up the supplies?” he asked

“We’ll be heading to San Francisco Tomorrow.” Dawn replied

~ The supply house, San Francisco California – the next day ~

“You sure we’re gonna need this much unbreakable glass D?” Faith asked as they loaded the van with supply

Dawn looked up from her check list and smiled at her.

“Slayers and Alcohol.” She replied

Faith thought about this for a moment.

“Oh, Yeah hadn’t thought of that.”

Robin smiled as he loaded in another box. The van only seated two so Robin and Faith drove up together and Dawn followed behind in her own car. They had managed to score most of the things they needed in the one place which Dawn thought was weird at first but, in the end, it turned out to be very handy. Faith walked over and collected the last box as Dawn double checked her list.

“Looks like all D” Faith said.

“Looks like,” Dawn replied, “I’m gonna quickly go back inside see if there’s anything else.”

“Okay, but don’t take too long we need to get back before dark.” Robin said

“Yes dad.” Dawn smirked before she turned and reentered the building

Faith laughed while Robin shook his head. Faith looked over to him.

“C’mon man it was a joke lighten up,” She replied

Faith walked in front of him and wrapped her arms around his waist.

“You know you’ll always be my daddy.” She continued before they both kissed

Inside Dawn was scouting around the display floor for anything else they might need. It had been a particularly hot day and the steel building was rapidly heating up like an oven. Dawn leaned against the wall for a moment while she checked her list. Next to her sat a cooler and inside were various sodas. While collecting the supplies the owner of the supply house said they were welcome to the drinks if they wanted one and Dawn decided to take him up on his offer. She took one of the bottles and drank it rapidly. It was cool and hit the right spot.

She decided that she had wasted enough time and pushed off the wall. It was only a couple of steps before Dawn began to feel lightheaded the room spun unnaturally and a moment later she collapsed onto the ground. Dawn lay silently as the Wolfram and Hart strike team came out of hiding. They scuttled around the inside of the building.

“Area’s secure sir,” one of the strike team said to the commander, “the slayer is outside and is unaware.”

“Let’s keep it that way. Secure the woman and move to phase two.” The commander ordered

The team saluted then carefully picked Dawn up off the ground. As they carried her out the back the commander pulled out his radio.

“The package is secure we’re on our way back.”

“Excellent work commander,” Judson said on the other end of the radio, “And the slayer?”

“Taking care of that now sir.”

Outside Robin and Faith kissed lightly as Dawn walked up to them.

“Ewww,” she joked, “not in front of me remember.”

Faith smirked as she moved away from Robin.

“We five by five D?” She asked

“Yeah,” Dawn replied tiredly, “Listen, can you guys handle the patrols tonight I’m not feeling to good.”

“You okay?” Robin asked

“Yeah it’s just I’ve been spending the last five hours in a really hot warehouse I don’t think it did me any favors.”

Robin smiled at her.

“You go home and rest. We’ll speak to you tomorrow.”

Dawn smiled at them as both Faith and Robin climbed into the van. As they drove off the commander walked up behind her.

“Do they know?”

The shaman dropped the glamour spell.

“Completely oblivious.” She replied

~Wolfram and Hart, Los Angeles California – a few hours later ~

Judson leads Dr Lynch through the lobby and up the stairs of the office.

“So what are the details of the case?” the doctor asked, “does the mother thing the baby’s not hers?”

“You’ll see.” Judson replied

The two men continued down the hall and entered through a sliding glass door. Dr Lynch was shocked by the sight of the lab. Judson motioned them to continue and he took Dr Lynch over to one of the tables. Dr Lynch couldn’t believe what he was seeing. On the table Dawn lay unconscious naked from the waist down and her legs up in stirrups. He swung around to Judson angrily.

“What the hell is this?” he demanded

“What we hired you to do,” Judson replied, “You going to give this nice lady a baby.”

“Or what?

“Well, I hate to go all cliché, but if you don’t we’ll kill you.”

Dr Lynch’s look of anger quickly shifted to a look of panic as he saw the heavily armed strike team members surrounding him. Judson sensed the doctor’s hesitations and put his arm around his shoulder.

“It’s a very simple decision doctor,” he continued, “Do this and we’ll let you walk out free. Don’t do this and we’ll kill you, get someone much worse and risk giving this woman an infection. You don’t want that on your conscience do you?”

Dr Lynch looked around the room at the men with the itchy trigger fingers. He didn’t have any other option.

“It’s not as simple as that,” Dr Lynch replied, “I need a sample.”

Judson handed Dr Lynch a vial. He looked at it closely.

“Is it pure?” he asked

“Made it ourselves.” Judson replied, “Oh, one last thing. After this is done don’t get any bright ideas like running to the police ‘Cause we’ll be watching you 24-7 and if you do tell somebody we’ll not only kill you but your family and their family and anybody standing near their family get the picture?”

Dr Lynch nodded nervously.

“This doesn’t come with guarantees,” Dr Lynch explained,”just because you have a sample doesn’t mean she going to get pregnant.”

“Trust me she will.” Judson replied

Dawn opened her eyes slowly. She blinked a couple of times until everything came into focus. Dawn sat up quickly. She was in her house but she couldn’t remember how she got home. She stood up and looked around the room. Nothing seemed different but she could sense something had changed. It took her a few minutes to drive to the club and when she arrives the place was full of construction workers. Supervising the workmen was Xander he heard the door open and noticed Dawn walk in in her nighty with a confused look on her face. Quickly he walked over to her.

“New look?” he joked.

“Huh?” Dawn asked vaguely

“You alright?”

Dawn rubbed her head.

“I-I don’t . . . what’s going on in here?” she asked

“It’s Wednesday, remember, I told you the workers were gonna come in and continue on the club.”

Xander look at Dawns shocked expression uncomfortably. He helped her into her office and onto her chair. Something was seriously wrong now, how could it be Wednesday? Xander put his hand on Dawns shoulder.

“Can I get you a drink or something?” he asked

Dawn didn’t reply. She was busy checking the calendar for inconsistencies. Not wasting any time he headed out of the office to call Robin and Faith. Dawn sat down in a daze now she knew something was the matter . . .

She can’t remember the last Fourteen hours.
