Angel sat next to Buffy. “Are you okay?”

“No,” Buffy said, still in Dawn’s arms.

“Do you wanna come back to L.A. with me?” Angel asked. “To get away from all this?”

“If Dawn can come too,” Buffy said, softly.

Angel looked at Dawn. “I’ll go,” she said. “But I’m going to give Spike a piece of my mind before we go.”

Faith came out on to the porch. “Spike?”

“Yeah?” Spike asked.

“I don’t want anything to happen to Buffy,” Faith said, softly.

“Neither do I. I didn’t know she cared,” he said.

“We’ll you need to go up and talk to her. Cuz this isn’t worth Buffy’s life,” Faith said.

Dawn opened the door. “Faith, can I talk to Spike?”

Faith nodded. “Spike, I’ll understand,” she said, going in.

Spike bowed his head and sighed. “Dawn…”

“Spike, if you want to be with Faith, Buffy and I are going to L.A.” Spike looked up at her. “I thought you’d wanna know. You’re gunna lose me and Buffy forever if we leave.”

Spike stood up and went inside.

Faith smiled as he went upstairs.

Spike looked in Buffy’s room and frowned at her curled up in Angel’s arms, crying softly. She as pale and he could tell from her heart beat that she was weak. Angel was holding her hand and she didn’t even have the strength to wrap her fingers around his.

Angel looked up at Spike and gently untangled himself from Buffy. “I’ll wait downstairs if I need to talk you with me,” he said, leaving the room.

Spike closed the door and leaned against it. “Buffy?”

“Yeah,” she whispered.

Spike went over and sat next to her. “I’m sorry,” he said, softly.

Buffy closed her eyes as more tears slid out of her eyes.

She was on her side and her back was to Spike so he couldn’t see her face. He did smell them though.

Spike slid closer to her and reached his hand out to hers. “Are you gunna talk to me?”

Buffy took a deep breath. “I don’t know what to say to you,” she said.

“Well I don’t want Angel to take you away from me,” Spike said, softly. “I didn’t know how you felt.”

Buffy found the strength to roll over a little so she could look at him. “Spike, I had to call Angel because I was so upset. I’ve never had to call Angel for anything. Never. That’s how bad I hurt. I had to call him because I didn’t know what to do. I used to be able to go to you about anything and that blew up in my face,” she said, pushing herself out of bed and moving away from him. “I haven’t moved on like you have. I didn’t go to another man because I knew there was no one else like you. I knew I wasn’t gunna find someone better then you. I went on a date with the principle but it didn’t mean anything. I know Faith’s better then me. She’s ruined 2 of my relationships in the past and she almost killed my mother. I don’t know what I did to make you do this to me but its killing me. I’ve never felt anything like this,” she said, her body wracking with sobs. “Losing Angel, twice, Riley, my mom, coming back, you attacking me. None of those things hurt as much as this has. I know I made some mistakes last year and I hurt you but I’m sorry. Spike, please make this pain stop,” she said, falling to the floor, sobbing uncontrollably.

Tears were running down Spike’s face at the pain he caused her. He went over and scooped her up and went back to bed. He sat with his back against the headboard and cradled her into his arms. “I’m so sorry, Buffy,” he said, rocking her back and forth.

“Just make this pain stop,” she whispered. “Just make it stop.”

Spike hugged her tighter. “I didn’t mean to hurt you, Buffy. I love you so much. Please forgive me,” he whispered, burying his face in her hair.

Buffy slid one of her arms around his waist. “You cant ever hurt me like this again,” she whispered. “It’ll kill me.”

“I’m sorry,” Spike whispered into her hair.

“Just hold me so I can sleep,” she said, closing her eyes.

Spike gently laid them down and they both fell asleep, both emotionally exhausted.

In the morning, when Buffy woke up, Spike was still snuggled up against her.

“Spike?” Buffy whispered.

“Yeah?” Spike asked, lifting his head.

“I love you,” Buffy said, softly. “That’s why I was so hurt. I lost you because I didn’t tell you how I felt.”

Spike kissed her softly. “Don’t think that. Faith and I aren’t together. We decided not to.”

Buffy’s eyes filled with tears at the topic.

Spike pulled her close to him as she cried. “I’m sorry,” he said.

Buffy wrapped his arms around him. “I just.. It still hurts, Spike,” she whispered.

Spike sat up with Buffy in his lap. “I never meant to hurt you,” he said, rocking her back and forth.

Buffy snuggled deeper into him. “Do we have to talk about this?” She asked. “I don’t want to.”

Spike kissed her softly. “We can stay up here,” he said.
