A few hours later, Spike and Faith came in the back door, hand-in-hand.
Faith was laughing quietly in case the girls were sleeping. “So I can I sleep downstairs with you?” She asked, looking up at him.
“The bed is very uncomfortable,” Spike said.
“It’s better then the floor,” she said, pulling him downstairs.
It didn’t take long for them to fall asleep together on Spike’s cot.
In the morning, when Spike woke, Faith wasn’t there. With a frown, he went upstairs and found Buffy in the kitchen.
“Morning Buffy,” he said, softly.
“Morning,” Buffy said, not looking at him.
Then Faith came in. “Hey,” she said, smiling.
Spike smiled at her. “Where were you?”
“I got up early to grab a shower before the girls,” she said. “I didn’t want to wake you up.”
Spike kissed her softly. “Good thinking,” he said, hands on her hips.
Tears welled in Buffy’s eyes and she left the room.
Faith looked after her. “She okay?”
“I don’t know. I wonder if something happened last night while we were out,” Spike said.
“Well go ask her,” Faith said.
Spike raised and eyebrow and went upstairs. He followed Buffy’s cries to her room and knocked on her door. “Buffy?”
“Go away,” Buffy said.
Spike could hear the pain in her voice. “Buffy?” He asked, again opening the door.
Buffy was curled up in a ball on her bed. “Please go away,” she said.
“What happened?” Spike asked, sitting next to her.
“Nothing,” Buffy said.
“Did something happen on patrol?” Spike asked, reaching out to touch her.
“Don’t touch me,” Buffy said, getting out of bed and leaving the room.
Spike stood up and followed her. “Buffy,” he called going, downstairs.
Faith looked up from the living room as Buffy came downstairs with Spike close behind her. “B?”
“I hope you’re happy,” Buffy said, tears in her eyes.
Spike touch her shoulder and she flinched. “I don’t want you touching me,” she said, glaring at him.
Buffy walked out of the house preventing Spike from following her.
Faith frowned and Spike sat next to her. “I’ll talk to her later,” he said.
Faith snuggled into his arms. “Something must have happened last night,” he said.
“Oh my god,” Dawn said, as she came downstairs and saw them on the couch.
Spike looked over at her. “What?”
“Where’s Buffy?” Dawn asked.
“She went out. She’s upset,” Faith said.
“I cant understand why,” Dawn growled.
Spike looked down at Faith before going over to Dawn. “You know why she’s upset?”
“Yeah,” Dawn said, going to the kitchen.
Spike went after her. “What happened? She was fine yesterday,” Spike said.
“You weren’t all snuggly with Faith yesterday,” Dawn said, angrily.
“So?” Spike asked.
“So, she’s pissed at you,” Dawn said. “You left her like the rest.”
“No I didn’t. Buffy and I are just friends,” Spike said.
“That’s why she makes googley eyes at you and she came home crying last night. The only thing I could get out of her was ‘I hate him’,” Dawn said.
