It was the most expensive headstone. Not because he wanted it that way, no, Angel felt the memorial headstone needed to justify them. He's not bitter, just disappointed and sad that he will no longer continue the good fight with them. It's a week later and no bodies have turned up. Wolfram and Hart have yet again thwarted him. Angel decides to have a grave-site in tribute. They walked past row, after row, after row. Angel sees their headstone before they get there.
Gunn pats him on the back, "It's not right."
Angel looks down at the row of graves. He closes his eyes, swallowing his sorrow. Wesley, Spike, Fred, Illyria, Cordelia...no, it's not right. He broods over the inscription on the headstone. 'They showed what the world should be like.'
Gunn and Angel stand there, respecting their fallen comrades, wishing it were them instead.
They turn away when Angel smells the sun coming. And he hates it. As they walk away, He knows what he should do but he can not . He refuses to run back to her. They will survive on their own. Slowly, they make their way back to the Hyperion.
