Joyce walks down the hallway and knocks on Buffy's door.
JOYCE-
"Who got everything, sweety. Books, clothes...stakes."
BUFFY-
"Yes...I'm dorm-bound. What do you have planned?"
JOYCE-
"Oh, the book club is meeting at the Espresso Pump. We're ready "The Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood." Very good book."
BUFFY-
"Uh...Mom. Remember Pat from the Book Club. You know Ms. I-Want-To-Be-A-Zombie?"
JOYCE-
"Don't worry, sweet. This is a safe Book Club."
Joyce sits at the table, finishing her Mocha and listening to the discussion of the book. It was a fun group....so far, no trouble. She reached into her purse and pushed the stake and cross that Buffy wanted her to carry around with her. So far, no need to use it.
MAN-
"EVERYBODY GET DOWN!!!" Joyce's head snaps around to see when the voice came from. A man was holding the very scared clerk. Joyce saw his face,and knew in that instant what was going on: vampire. She reaches back in her purse, and grabs the cross and stake. Joyce slides the stack into the sleeve of her jacket and the cross into the waist band of her pants. The vampire starts taken purses and wallets, a simple robbery. He then grabs Joyce's purse.
VAMPIRE-
"Gimme the damn watch!"
JOYCE-
"Okay...okay." She kicks the person across from her in the leg and he lets out an 'Ow!'. The vampire looks over, and Joyce takes the stake and plunges it into his heart. The would be robber vampire explodes into dust. "Never mess with the Slayer's Mom."
Later that night, Buffy calls and asks Joyce about her day.
JOYCE-
"Oh...nothing unusal." Joyce had already decided that Buffy had enough to deal with. Her little vamp encounter would be a secret, but what Joyce didn't know was that his buddies were out in town....looking for her.
