Buffy hands danced over the controls to their stolen shuttlecraft. Even though the Sunnydale was old, the ship's shuttles were almost brand new. Tara sat next to her....being a conselor, she never took flight classes.
BUFFY-
"You okay"
TARA-
"Not really. I..I kept thinking about Willow, and what those monsters are doing to her."
BUFFY-
"I know. We will get them back."
TARA-
"How?"
BUFFY-
"Simple. We get close to the Cube, beam in, grab them, and then beam back."
TARA-
"What if they are already Borg?"
BUFFY-
"I can't think about that....they have to be okay." Tara looks over at a monitor.
TARA-
"Buffy...what does this mean?" Buffy looks over Tara's shoulder. The silhouette of a Soverign class starship is shown.
BUFFY-
"We have company. Let's us....registry....NCC-1701-E. The Enterprise." Suddenly, the shuttlecraft is rocked back and forth. "Damnit. They lock a tractor beam on us." Suddenly, Buffy can feel the tickling feeling of a transport beam. The flight console disappears and is replaced by a transporter room and a squard of phaser carrying security officer. In the center of the group is a tall, bearded man.
RIKER-
"I'm Commander Will Riker. Commander Summers and Lieutenant Maclay, you are under arrest for theft of Starfleet Property."
After a couple of hours in the Enterprise brig, Buffy and Tara are escorted to the Enterprise's main briefing room. Sitting at the head of the long black table sat Captain Jean-Luc Picard.
PICARD-
"Sit down. Now, Summers and Maclay....trust me I understand what you are doing."
BUFFY-
"With all due respect, Captain, how in the hell can you?"
PICARD-
"I was held captive by the Borg five years ago. My crew risked everything to save me. I have contact Captain Giles and told him of the operation."
TARA-
"W.What operation."
PICARD-
"I think the Enterprise can carry out your rescue attempt better than a shuttlecraft. We are going to rescue your friends. I'm having Dr. Crusher set up a security force field in sick bay. That's where Lieutenant Rosenberg and Ensign Summers will be beamed."
BUFFY-
"I want on the team."
TARA-
"Me too."
PICARD-
"Commander Summers, I agree with but....Lieutenant Maclay, I'm sorry...you don't have the combat training for this."
BUFFY-
"It's okay, Tara. You should be in sick bay when we beam them back."
PICARD (hitting his com badge)-
"Number one. Set a course for the Borg Cube. All decks: battle stations."
