The old Reliant class starship cruises passed a planet.
GILES-
"Captain's Log...Stardate 974733.5. I am stil getting used to my new command, USS Sunnydale NCC-1640. She's an old vessel...over 100 years old." Captain Rupert "Ripper" Giles closes the log book, and looks over his shoulder at his first officer, Commander Wesley Wyndam-Pryce. He had served with Wesley before, on the USS Watcher when Admiral Travers was still in command. "Tactical...any other ships present?" Lieutenant Commander Faith Lehane answers.
FAITH-
"No...it's just us." The ship's chief engineer, Lieutenant Alexander "Xander" Harris walks up to the railing on the upper level of the main bridge.
XANDER-
"Captain...we are in transport range."
GILES-
"Very well." He sighs, other starship were assigned exciting projects, but the Sunnydale was assigned to recover science data from a autmatic science station. The ship's counselor, Lieutenant Tara Maclay, touches his shoulder and leans over so no one can hear.
TARA-
"You're bored?"
GILES-
"Oh, no...this is....oh dear Lord, yes I am." Tara smiles.
TARA-
"After your shift come by and see me." Giles smiles, and then taps the comm button.
GILES-
"Buffy, are you ready?" The ship's security officer, Lieutenant Commander Buffy Summers, answers.
BUFFY-
"We're ready when you're ready." Giles smiles again. He was famous in Starfleet for his casual manner towards his crew. His gaze turns to his helm officer, Buffy's sister, Ensign Dawn Summers. "Dawn, put us in a standard orbit please."
DAWN-
"No problem."
Down in the main transporter room, Buffy is getting her away team ready. The chief science officer, Lieutenant Willow Rosenberg, and the ship's doctor Lieutenant Junior Grade Anya Jenklins were waiting.
BUFFY-
"You guys ready?"
WILLOW-
"You betcha....science goodness awaiting."
ANYA-
"I still can't see why I have to go. There are no people are the station."
BUFFY-
"Your going just in case one of us gets hurt." Buffy, Willow, and Anya are joined by three other security officers on the transporter pad. "Energize."
