~ A small bar somewhere in Nevada – five day’s later ~
Angela Hester folded her arms and watched angrily as the five men sat at their usual table harassing her staff. They do this every week the five men come in, sit down, drink till they almost pass out then try to grope any female barperson that walks by.
“Hey there sweetie,” the eldest of the group said as the bargirl walked up and placed some more drinks down on the table, “why don’t you come sit down on my lap?”
The bargirl looked at him disgusted and turned to walk away. The man grabbed her by the arm roughly.
“Come on now don’t be shy,” he continued, “I won’t bite, well, not hard anyways.”
The rest of the group laugh as the waitress was dragged down onto his lap. Ss he tried to reach up her skirt Angela looked at the new bouncer they got for the club and gestured to the men. In the past this usually ended up with the bouncer joining the men after being persuaded but not tonight. Tonight they had a new bouncer who wouldn’t put up with that kind of crap. If you never saw the African American woman before you would think that she wouldn’t be a match for the five men but Angela knew different.
The bouncer walked up to the table and folded her arms.
“I think it’s time you five be getting’ lost.” The Woman said
The eldest guy looked up at the slender woman with a mischievous smile.
“Look here boys the entertainment has arrived,” He said throwing the bargirl roughly on the floor, “You gonna dance for us little girl?”
The woman didn’t react. She stood there arms folded staring the man down.
“I’m gonna say this one more time,” The Woman, “All of you are gonna leave and never come back. Hear me?”
The man got to his feet he walked right up into her face. The woman’s reaction didn’t change.
“Feisty, I like feisty, you think you can handle me?”
The woman looked him up and down.
“I’ve faced worse then you.”
The man squinted to read her name badge
“Well . . . Shona . . . what are you gonna do? cause I aint leaving.”
“You don’t want me to handle you sir.” Shona snapped
The man smiled at her again.
“You know what I want to handle?” he asked
“What?”
The man reaches up and grabbed her roughly by the breasts. Shona’s reaction didn’t change as he fondled them.
“Wooo boys these melons are ripe!” he yelled
Shona tiled her head slightly.
“I’d be movin’ those hands if you want them still on your wrists.”
“What are you gonna do? Cry to your momma?”
Shona smiled slightly. In one swift motion she kneed him in the groin and as he doubled over she kneed him in the face. The man grabbed his bloodied broken nose and screamed in pain. Shona grabbed one of his arms and twisted it behind his back. With her other hand she grabbed his hair and forced his head down onto the table. The man struggled against her but she was too strong for him. Shona leaned down next to his ear and spoke in a menacing tone.
“I don’t like repeating myself so this is only coming once. You guys are gonna leave and never come back. If I do see your face anywhere near this bar I will rip it right off you head clear?”
The man mumbled something. Shona pulled the mans head up from the table.
“What was that?” she asked
“Okay, you crazy bitch, okay!” he yelled
Shona forced him up off the table and dragged him to the door. She gave him one last look
“Just so where on the same page . . .” she said and hurled him out at full strength.
He flew through the air at incredible speed. He hit the side of his car, setting off the car alarm, and then hit the ground hard. Dusting off her hand she walked back up to the table where the other four were sitting. She folded her arms and looked at them fiercely. One of them looks at his watch.
“Geez it that the time I got to get home!” he said as he flew off the table and out the door.
The other made similar excuses and joined him. Shona returned to the bar. Angela walked up to her.
“Thank god for you! I’ve been trying to get rid of those jerks for years now!” she said
Shona shrugged
“Just doin’ my job is all.”
“You did more then that you did me a favor,” Angela replied, “I’m gonna pay you double what you’re asking.”
“Don’t bother,” Shona replied, “Don’t need it.”
“Suit yourself.” Angela replied
She poured Shona a drink and went back to cleaning the glasses. Shona sat quietly and sipped it but as she did she sensed something next to her.
“Nice moves back there,” a man said next to Shona, “You had everything worked out didn’t you.”
“Facin’ off against a drunk guy? What’s there to work out?” Shona replied
The man took a swig of his drink and looked at her.
“And like you said you’ve faced tougher right?”
Shona lifted her head.
“I never heard you enter the bar.” she said
“I’m very sneaky.” The man replied
“Maybe,” Shona replied, “but I’d be thinking of two questions right now . . .”
Shona kicked out his stool from underneath him. As he fell she grabbed him by the throat and pulled him up. From her boot she drew a knife and held it to his chest. The man looked down and saw the blade was made of wood.
“. . . Do I want to be staked now or outside?”
The man smiled at her.
“This isn’t what you think Shona.”
“Really? ‘cause I’m thinking I don’t want a vamp in this bar.”
“That wont do you any good.”
Shona moved in closer.
“Talkin’ fun but I like the physical stuff better.”
Shona stabbed the wooden blade through his chest. When she pulled it out the wound closed instantly. The vampire smiled
“It won’t do you any good because I’m from the hell dimension.”
Shona looked at him for a moment then let him go. The man straightened his leather jacket.
“My name is Gypsy.” He said
“Cute. Do you have the dress and jewelry to go with it?” Shona replied
Gypsy gave her a look.
“I’m not here to hurt you or anybody in this bar.”
“Why don’t I believe you?”
“Because you wouldn’t be a slayer if you did.”
Shona looked the vampire up and down.
“If you ain’t here to kill why are you here?”
“Came looking for you actually,” Gypsy replied, “We have something in common.”
“Yeah and what’s that?”
“A certain ball of red energy.”
Shona lowered her knife. She kept her distance by was curious about this vampire.
“How the hell do you know about that?”
“Because I’ve seen it to,” Gypsy replied, “You weren’t the only one affected by it.”
“What’d it do to you?”
Gypsy leaned against the bar.
“Gave me back my soul.”
By now Shona was completely confused and Gypsy knew this. He walked up to her slowly.
“Look I’m not asking you to go on some sought of medieval quest to stop this thing I came by to warn you.”
“Bout what?”
“About me.” an upper class voice said from the doorway
Shona and Gypsy turned to see a man leaning casually against the doorway. He looked like he was in his thirties with hypnotic blue eyes and perfectly brushed hair. He was dressed like a rich boy in a pair of suit pants and a light blue shirt.
“Talon.” Gypsy said angrily
Talon shook his head at the vampire.
“My, My, My so much anger gypsy,” he said playfully, “and all pointed at me. I’m shocked.”
“You’re gonna be a lot more then that if you come anywhere near us.”
Talon gave Gypsy a strange look.
“Who said I need to go near you?” he asked
Talon waved his hand. Gypsy glowed red and was thrown violently against the bar. As the vampire struggled to get to his feet Talon shifted his attention to Shona.
“So you’re the infamous Shona Mayers.” He said
“That supposed to impress me?” Shona asked, “The magic act and you knowin’ my name.”
“No. strangely enough I find comfort in your cynicism.”
“Careful Shona,” Gypsy said, “he’s a lot more dangerous then he seems.”
Talon laughed.
“Do I look dangerous?”
Shona looked from Gypsy to Talon. She walked over to Gypsy and helped him onto his feet.
“You’re taking his side?” Talon asked
“Hell yeah,” Shona replied, “I’ve spent enough time out there to know that only dangerous people are sayin’ they’re not dangerous.”
“Fine have it your way.”
Talon stretched out his palms suddenly his entire body was engulfed with red energy. Shona looked at him in shock.
“Okay now that’s new.” she said
“Is there a back door to this place?” Gypsy asked
“Nope.”
“Is there somewhere where we can make a back door?”
Shona quickly scanned the room. She looked at Gypsy and gestured to behind him. Gypsy turned and saw the boarded up window. He nodded and they both turned and ran at full speed. Talon shot bolts of energy at them. Shona and Gypsy jumped and weaved their way through the barrage and dived out the window. After rolling across the ground they both jumped back up onto their feet.
“Where now?” Shona asked
“My cars over here!” Gypsy yelled
Shona watched as Gypsy bolted over to an aging station wagon. She looked at it cautiously
“What the hell is that?” she asked
“It’s my car.” Gypsy replied
“I aint getting in that thing,” she snapped, “It could explode.”
“Aright then you stay here and talk to him.”
Shona turned and saw Talon walk around the corner.
“My day’s just gotten really weird-ass.” She said as she ran for the car.
She leaped up and slipped through the window just as Gypsy started the engine. Throwing it in reverse he skidded backwards swinging the car around 180 degrees before speeding away. Talon walked up calmly as the energy dissipated.
“You two can’t hide from me.” Talon said, “No when were so connected.”
