“She’s pregnant?” Tibby asked in disbelief as she sat on her bed with Tibby and Dawn packed her stuff.
“Yup,” Dawn said, throwing a shirt into her suitcase.
“So she’s got like and apple pie in the oven?” Charlie chimed in.
“Its bun,” Tibby said.
“Huh?”
“She’s got a bun in the oven,” Tibby clarified.
“Whatever same thing,” Charlie said.
“Is he going to marry her?” Tibby asked, turning to Dawn
“I don’t know,” Dawn said; crest fallen, “Do you think…”
Tibby shrugged.
“Wait to go,” Charlie said in a hushed whisper as she hit Tibby, “She’s had a bad enough day already.”
“It’s cool,” Dawn said as she put another item into her suitcase and zipped it shut sitting on the bed and hugging her knees to her chest.
“How are you getting home?” Charlie asked.
“I don’t know….Buffy was too freaked out on the phone….she didn’t really say,” Dawn sighed and then groaned in frustration, “No one ever said it was going to be this hard.”
“What?” Tibby asked.
“Life,” Dawn said, letting out a breath of air that pushed her bangs up and then they fell into her face again, “If I had known I would have stayed in the womb.”

Dawn was dragging her suitcase towards the office, she hoped that they could figure out a way for her to get home, when Connor walked over and picked up her suitcase for her.
“Can we talk?” he asked.
“I guess,” Dawn said. They pair sat down on a patch of grass at the side of the trail.
“I didn’t want to hurt you.”
“I know.”
“It’s just…..god, I didn’t want this.”
“What do you want?”
“Not to be dad, not now anyway. I scared Dawn, really scared.”
“Did you tell your parents?”
“No, Fred and I are driving up to tell them and tell her parents.”
“Do you love her?”
“No, not anymore. I still care about her but I don’t love her. I did but it was different from what I feel for you.”
“And what’s that?”
“Dawn I do love you more then anyone, ever. I know you may not believe me or…”
“I do…believe you and I still love you too but I’m not sure if it can work anymore.”
Connor nodded.
“Are you going to marry her?”
“We’re 16.”
Dawn shrugged.
“I don’t know,” he shook his head, “I probably should but then again if I don’t love her…..Where are you going with the suitcase?”
“Home.”
“Why?”
“My mom died.”
“Oh god, when did you find out? How did this happen?”
“Last night and it was from her tumor.”
“Last night, shit I’m the biggest ass in the world.”
“You didn’t know, besides its not you fault.”
“I’m sorry Dawn. I’m gonna miss her.”
“Me too.”
“How you getting up there?”
Dawn shrugged.
“If you want I’ll give you a ride.”
“You’re going to Sunnydale?”
“Yeah, my mom lives there now and Fred’s parents do too. We figured my dad could just drive up from L.A. So do you want a ride?”
Dawn nodded and Connor picked up her suitcase and carried it to the car for her, where Fred was sitting in the passenger’s sear, reading a book.
