Buffy awoke the next morning with the aromatic smells of coffee and sizzling bacon wafting in the air.
She tossed her covers aside as she wiped the grogginess from
her hazel eyes, rapidly blinking against the harsh sunlight filtering through the open windows.
The remnants of last night faded slowly away into a distant memory.
The only memories that lingered in her mind were the sweet images
of Angel kissing and holding her at The Bronze under the dark strobe lights.
The wicked images brought a delicious smile to Buffy’s
lips, but her happiness disappeared as quickly as it had come.
It was gonna be another scorching day in Sunnydale and
just the thought of it pinched Buffy’s forehead into a annoyed frown.
She stood and walked slowly towards her desktop when a strange feeling filled her stomach.
Worry crossed her features as she glanced at the purple alarm clock she had.
It was turned completely around, facing the pinkness of her wall.
That’s weird, she thought. Who the hell just turned my clock around?
I was asleep dammit. How the hell could that had happened?!
No one was in my room all day yesterday. It couldn’t have been mom.
She was working all day and got home really late.
And then the horrible memories of last night came crashing down on her all at once.
Did that shadow followed me all the way home? Was he or she in my room last night while I was still asleep?
The crazy thoughts and questions filled her mind at a rapid speed and she could no longer
support herself as she slammed against the desktop with a loud thump, spraining her leg in the process.
She shook her head, erasing the absurd thoughts away from her mind.
Whatever happened didn’t matter much. Not anymore. It was only just a memory now.
All that mattered right now was just spending time with her
friends; to be safe from whoever was following her in the night.
She quickly got dressed and ran down the stairs, only to find that
the rest of the house that she occupies was empty and silent. Buffy was alone.
Her eyes glanced to the back of the kitchen where the delicious
smells of breakfast swirled deliciously in the air, making Buffy’s stomach rumble with hunger.
A glass of orange juice lay before her on the counter and she took
a quick swig, drinking it all down thirstily as she wiped the dregs from her lips.
She fished a couple of slices of bacon and twirled it in her
mouth, savoring the taste as a white piece of paper hung on the fridge.
Dear Buffy,
It looks like I might have to go out of town for a couple of days to pick up some paintings for the gallery. I left you some money
for pizza and in case if you should need to go to the store to buy a few things.
My cell number is on the fridge and please, take care of yourself
honey and be extra careful since all of that weird stuff is going on in our small little town of ours.
I want you to be careful when you go to school so I want you
to drive yourself as a precaution. I love you sweetheart and I will see you in a couple of days.
XOXO,
Mom
Buffy rolled her eyes in somewhat annoyance but at the
same time, she was scared of staying home alone after what had transpired last night.
She had to get her friends to stay the night with her. She had to.
In case if that shadow followed her again, this time she knew she wouldn’t be alone.
She dropped the note, fished her backpack while jangling the car keys in her
hands as she walked out the wooden door and into the
hot that was the day, shielding her eyes from the sun.
Trickles of sweat poured down her face as she walked towards her black car but quickly stopped.
She felt eyes on hers. Hidden eyes that were unseen in the daylight.
Buffy glanced at her surroundings but saw nothing there.
Shrugging her shoulders, she got into the car and turned on the ignition, taking off.
She wasn’t aware that those same hidden eyes were watching her from behind…
