OVER THE ATLANTIC OCEAN - 2103
Buffy looks out of the window of the Spaceliner. She can see the curve of the Earth, and the clouds far below her. Kennedy walks over and sits next to her.
KENNEDY-
"Are you okay?"
BUFFY (coldly)-
"What makes you think you can talk to me?"
KENNEDY-
"Mom, I...." Buffy interrupts her with a small laugh.
BUFFY-
"Mom....sounds strange to me. Why did you marry him?"
KENNEDY-
"I was alone. I thought he loved me. It had been sixty years since you passed away...and...I thought it was the right thing to do."
BUFFY-
"You thought wrong. Did you and him ever...."
KENNEDY-
"Yes....but Sarah and I believe his soul was already gone. The way he started acting before he asked...I should have seen it. How did he lose his soul."
BUFFY-
"That's what I'm about to find out."
KENNEDY-
"That's what we are going to find out."
BUFFY-
"I don't need YOUR help. For a vampire with a soul, you have a fucked up version of what is right and wrong." Kennedy walks away, and she brushes up against Spike on her way out of the cabin.
SPIKE-
"You were a little hard on her."
BUFFY-
"She's your daughter."
SPIKE-
"She's OUR daughter."
BUFFY-
"Spike....I never had a baby. I didn't carry her, or her brother and her sister. She's....older than I am. Why did you let her marry Angel?"
SPIKE-
"So...that's what this is about: somebody marring Angel."
BUFFY-
"No....it's just....I don't know. I keep telling myself that Kennedy is not my daughter, but it still feels wrong that she was with Angel."
SPIKE-
"Buffy, being a vampire can be very lonely. I know....you were, I mean the orginal you...you were the last person I was with."
BUFFY-
"How long was that?"
SPIKE-
"Don't know...eighty, ninety years ago."
BUFFY-
"Helluva dry spell."
SPIKE-
"My point is...just give her a break. She made a mistake, and I believe she'll make up for it."
AUSTRIA
St. Vigerous, the nine foot tall warrior vampire, sits on a throne. Jenkins, the base security chief, makes in and morphs into a demon. Angelus walks in behind him.
ST. VIGEROUS-
"Angelus....I trust you're making the best of your new freedom. You should, it wasn't easy for Jenkins to perform the spell."
ANGELUS-
"We have a problem. That bitch Rosenberg cloned another witch, and she has power."
ST. VIGEROUS-
"One witch doesn't concern me. What concerns me is your failure to bring my gifts. It has come to my attention that you do not share power. I respect that....I fell the same way. I can not, however, have someone who may betray me." He motions to Jenkins. He touches Angelus's chest and he screams. Angelus's eyes glow and he falls to his knees, weakly. Jenkins has restored Angel's soul. "Jenkins...lock him up, and torture him until he begs you to stake him....and then torture him some more."
