SUNNYDALE CRATER - 2103
Sarah runs down the hallway, looking over her shoulder from time to time. She runs into the base's swimming pool. As she reaches the far door, Angelus steps out from behind a corner. Sarah stops running and starts to back up. She's shaking with fear.
SARAH-
"Please...."
ANGELUS-
"Oh, I love it when they beg. You know....I could have used your help. But, I figured as soon as you saw little Red, you would get all soft hearted. When St. Vigerous comes...you'll wish you had join me. Oh, yeah, wait....." He grabs her by her hair and slams her against the wall, knocking her out. He then throws her into the swimming pool. She floats to the top of the water, face down. Suddenly, a blast knocks Angelus across the room. He looks over at the door and he sees Tara. Angelus wipes the blood from his mouth and walks out. Tara then jumps in the pool and pulls Sarah to safety. She knocked out....but alive.
Sarah held the cup of coffee in her shaking hands. She was dressed in my robe, while Tara was back in the USAF sweats. Tara hugs Sarah.
SARAH-
"He tried.....tried to kill me."
TARA-
"I know, but he's gone now. I d.did a locator spell and he wasn't in the base."
SARAH-
"Thank you for my life."
TARA-
"What are friends for?" Sarah actually managed a little smile.
SARAH-
"It's time....we have to have the big meeting. I want Spike and Kennedy there."
TARA-
"What about me?"
SARAH-
"You too. I know it may cause a rift with Willow and maybe even Oz, but we don't have time. We have to find out how he lost his soul, and why he didn't encode the traits into the others."
TARA-
"He wanted them helpless. Remember what you said about the clones...they were of people Angel knew. Well, I did some reading about Angelus....his M.O. is to torture those who mattered to him most."
SARAH-
"That's it....that's why the encode has done, and why he told us to keep the Scooby Gang here. They were a present to St. Vigerous."
TARA-
"How did he lose his soul?"
SARAH-
"I don't know. But, I think I may know who might."
TARA-
"Kennedy?"
SARAH-
"Kennedy."
The next day, Sarah walks towards Kennedy's quarters. She is wearing her BDU with a pistol on her belt. She knocks on the door, but she doesn't wait for an answer. She sees Kennedy staring at the vidphone.
KENNEDY-
"Where's Angel? What the hell have you done with him, bitch?"
SARAH-
"He tried to kill me...."
KENNEDY-
"Bullshit. He would have never done that."
SARAH-
"You're right, Angel won't. Angelus would."
KENNEDY-
"Oh, so you're saying at he has lost his soul. What did you do....fuck him?"
SARAH-
"Kennedy....Kennedy, he lost his soul a while back. Before the cloning project....I want to know how and why."
KENNEDY-
"Angel did not lose his soul....I'm his wife. You think I might have noticed that."
SARAH-
"Kennedy, why did you marry Angel?"
KENNEDY-
"It's lonely being a souled vampire...he asked I said yes."
SARAH-
"Kennedy....would Angel violate his memory of Buffy like that?"
KENNEDY-
"No, Damn. (She throws herself down on the couch) He did lose his soul, didn't him? That's the reason he asked me to marry him....it was a crude, sick joke." Sarah hugs Kennedy, as the vampire cried. 'Next time, Angelus....I will destroy you,' Sarah thinks as she holds the broken heart Kennedy.
