"So what did you think?" asked Robby as they sat back on the couch.
"Pretty good. I think Will's speech about how Elizabeth goes free was a little over the top though."
"What?"
"The part when he climbed out of the water and threatened to shoot himself."
"I remember him climbing out of the water but I don't remember a speech."
"Why?"
"Wasn't paying attention to what he was saying."
"How come?"
"Because it was Orlande Bloom soaking wet. Do you really think I'd be paying attention to the story?"
Conner looked at her confused.
"I guess you do. So what do you wanna watch?" she said quickly changing the subject.
"What's on?"
"Charmed?"
"What's that?"
"It's about three witches and how they fight demons."
"Sounds like my life. Minus the witches."
"I know what you mean."
They didn't talk once the show started and Robby fell asleep half way through.
Conner looked over and smiled. She looked different when she was sleeping. Like a human girl, not a warrior for god.
"God..." he mutered shaking his head. God hadn't done much for him. Hadn't done anything for him when you thought about it. Holtz had taught him that God had brought him to a loving father, away from a monster. And he'd believed it. Then he heard the truth. Holtz was the enemy, not Angel.
He tried to look back at the T.V. but couldn't bring himself to look away. He moved to brushed a piece of hair out of her face then brought his hand back fast. If he touched her she'd wake up and if she woke up she'd know he'd been staring at her and if she knew he'd been staring at her then she'd think he was a freak.
'Phew! That took so many words it hurt.' he thought. 'She's got me using complete sentences. What's happening to me?'
Ring
He ran to the phone in case it had woken her up.
"Hello?"
