~“It’s over Buffy. I can’t be with you anymore.” Angel said as he and Buffy stood in Sunnydale High’s hallway in front of Buffy’s locker.
“But why? We were doing so well together. Did I do something?” Buffy asked, tears coming to her eyes
“Yeah, you were friends with that Spike guy. Glad I kicked his but the other night.” Angel said laughing.
“You know if you hadn’t drugged me I would have beat you, but now that I’m not let’s finish it right here right now.” Spike said coming up behind Buffy taking off the leather jacket he usually wore.
“You’re on.” Angel said and the two starting circling and then hitting.
“Buffy, Buffy.” Buffy heard her name but couldn’t tell where it was coming from.~
“Buffy, get up.” Spike said as he gently shook her arm.
“Spike, what is it? What’s wrong?” Buffy said a little bit concerned.
“Nothing really other than you were talking in your sleep and crying. Are you alright?” Spike asked
“I’m fine. It was just a dream. Angel was braking up with me because of you and then you showed up saying how he had drugged you and then you two started to fight as in a physical fight.” Buffy said as she started to cry. Spike knew he should have been prepared for her to get like this but of course as usual he wasn’t. He couldn’t stand it when she cried and when he knew he could fix what caused her to cry he tried to fix it, but he could help a dream so he just held her and comforted her.
“You know, Spike, it’s probably me just being sick nothing more. You know me.” Buffy said as she sat back wiping her tear-streaked face.
“You’re probably right. Should have guessed that the dreams would start.” Spike said knowing that Buffy always had her weirdest and emotional dreams when she was sick.
“I’m hungry, Willy. Can you get me something to eat?” Bradley asked not looking away from the cartoons, watching a cartoon that neither Buffy nor Spike knew since neither really watched cartoons unless they were with kids that Buffy was babysitting. The parents that she babysat for would usually let Spike come with her knowing that he was good with kids and that Buffy trusted him.
“Sure. Come on let’s go in the kitchen.” Spike said as he got up from the couch. Buffy noticed that he had a bit of a spring in his step almost like he was beginning to feel better. She was happy for him but she was also sad because that meant that they couldn’t spend time together and that she was going to have to probably watch Bradley, who she loved very much but when she was sick she didn’t love babysitting.
“You ok?” Spike asked as he came and sat back down on the couch and Bradley sat down on the floor with a plate with a sandwich and a couple chips and a glass of juice.
“Oh yeah, I was just thinking. How are you feeling? You look a bit better.” Buffy said changing the subject.
“Actually I’m feeling better I might have to go to school tomorrow but if you want I could tell my dad I’m still sick and we could hang out until you’re all better.” Spike said seeing how her face fell a bit when he mentioned that he might go back to school.
“Don’t do that. I don’t want you to get in trouble with you’re dad. I’ll be fine.” Buffy said trying to look sincere but not having 100% success.
“Yeah right, you and I both know that you want me here but I guess you’re right about my dad though he would probably kill me if found out I was skipping again. Can’t really afford to skip again and have him knowing so yeah, um well I’m here today so with the energy you have let’s make the best of it.” Spike said
“If you can, see if Bradley would want to go up to his room for about two hours I was thinking maybe we could watch a movie, preferably a scary one.” Buffy said hopefully.
“His mom does still want him to take naps still, maybe I can get him to take one.” Spike said thoughtfully starting to get up from the couch.
“Come on Bradley, time for a nap.” Spike said as he playfully picked up Bradley, but ended up caring him all the way up since he was half asleep already.
“He’s completely out, so let’s see what we got here. How about the Amityville Horror?” Spike said when he came down and Buffy nodded an agreement. Buffy stayed awake for the entire movie, which both surprised Spike and made him happy. Whenever the movie got to an extremely scary part, which was basically the entire movie Buffy would lean and hide into Spike chest. This brought back a billion memories from when they were little, it made Spike think of the time that he showed her his pet snake when they were six. She had gotten so scared when it lunged at her, even thought Spike had told her that it was harmless, that she had grabbed Spike arm and left quite a bruise, which, if he remembered right, had made him feel guilty for weeks for having scared her. He had felt guilty that he had asked his mom to get her a stuffed pig in which she name Mr. Gordo and both thanked and forgave all over. Just thinking about it made him smile, which Buffy noticed of course.
“Whatcha smiling at this is a scary movie not a comedy.” Buffy said smiling herself.
“Just remembering the beginning of Mr. Gordo.” Spike said smiling
“That snake scared me half to death. You never told me it was going to lunge.” Buffy said trying to sound and look angry with no success.
“I thought you forgave me for that.” Spike said and Buffy was going to make a comeback but before she could she stifled a yawn, which told Spike to let them watch the rest of the movie in silence, not counting the small screams Buffy let out about a hundred times more which inevitably led to loss of voice. He knew he was going to have fun with this one.
“Hey, Spike, feeling better I see. How’s Buffy?” Joyce said as she came into the kitchen to find Spike making himself a sandwich.
“Feel a lot better and Buffy’s sleeping. Oh don’t try to get her to talk thanks to the movie we chose she kinda lost her voice.” Spike said with a small smirk on his face.
“What movie?” Joyce said suspiciously.
“Um, Amityville Horror, she said that she had wanted to watch a scary movie, so we watched one. She was able to stay awake during the entire movie but fell asleep seconds after it ended.” Spike said as he walked back into the living room with Joyce behind him.
“Aunt Joyce!” a voice that Joyce very much recognized shouted as Bradley came running over to hug her. Even though her and Rupert weren’t married Bradley was still allowed to call Joyce, Aunt Joyce that Joyce very much enjoyed. Before Spike was able to hush him up though, Buffy was awake.
She smiled at her mom but didn’t say a word.
“Hello, Buffy. Are you ready to go?” Joyce asked and just as she was going to answer Spike put his hand on Buffy’s shoulder and, while smiling, said, “You know if you want you guys can stick around for dinner, I’m sure my dad would very much enjoy having another adult around for dinner. You guys can have the dining room and Buffy, Bradley and I can stick around in the living room here.”
Joyce agreed to the idea only under the idea that they wouldn’t stay very long. Spike was the one set on the mission of convincing his dad for the dinner thing. Rupert who rather tired himself had planned a quiet night with his son but knowing that Spike was going back to school the next day and that he wanted to spend some time with Buffy who was still sick and so he agreed to let the two stay.
The next day Spike went to school as he and Buffy figured he would and Buffy stayed home and watched Bradley. She went back to school two days after Spike did and everything went back the way it was before. In a way Buffy was glad because that meant every morning when she opened up her locker she would find a piece of poetry that Spike had written just for her and the day she got back she had more than usual because apparently when she had been sleeping their last day together he had written some and had written some while she had been gone. She knew that the moment she got home she would run over to his house and give him the biggest hug ever for all that he’s ever done for her.
*an unfortunate end*
