HONOLULU, HAWAI'I - 2045
Xander watched his wife over the vidphone. Dawn looked tired, and worn out. He had heard about the attack and the destruction of the unit on the island. Xander wished he was there...to hold his Dawn.
DAWN-
"Xander....I have to contact Buffy. Jill told them everything."
XANDER-
"How's John and Josie?"
DAWN-
"They're fine. Tough kids....but I guess they have to be. Gia was with them in the basement of the house, and she had a force field around them." Suddenly, Dawn breaks out in tears. "Oh, God....I killed her....I killed a person, baby. I'm sorry." Xander stand up straight at the news.
XANDER-
"Baby, you did you kill?"
DAWN-
"Jill....I stabbed her...I had no choice....she....FUCK!!"
XANDER-
"Shhh....Dawn, like you said you had no choice. I coming back there right away."
DAWN-
"You can't. You have to complete your mission. You make a promise to me right now....we bring yourself back....okay." Xander stared at the scene for a moment. 'How in the hell can I promise that?' Xander thought.
XANDER-
"I promise." He shuts off the vidphone so that Dawn can call Buffy. He stands up and walks out of the room. First he'll tell Spike and Maple, and then the troops. He wasn't worried about the islands, all of them were deserted. But their next target was California. He wondered how many would want to return to Clem Island.
LIMA, PERU-
Buffy watched and listened to Kristen tell the horrible story. She closed her eyes when Kris got to the part when Dawn killed Jill. She hated that her sister had to go through that. After hearing the news, she shuts off the vidphone. Angel was standing out of view, he never liked the vidphones.
BUFFY-
"Here's the plan: we search the area for survivors and then we return to the island."
ANGEL-
"That's a good idea. The field back up?"
BUFFY-
"Yeah...for now. Damn...I can't believe it. Jill. She was one of Willow's best students."
ANGEL-
"She gonna take the news hard."
BUFFY-
"I know. Any news from the recon teams."
ANGEL-
"Yeah....I'm gonna to check out a cave just north of here. Somebody saw some light from it...like a campfire."
BUFFY-
"I'm send two Slayers and a wiccan with you."
ANGEL-
"I think Willow should be the wiccan....once she gets this news, she's gonna need something to take her mind off things." Angel turns and leaves. Buffy was upset, her front of the war was over. Somebody had to return to the island for defense. She just hoped that the other team had to adopt their mission.
