Spike got out of his bed and walked over to the trunk he had. It was full of stuff he had kept from the time before his turning. The one thing he was looking for was his sister’s dress. He had kept it because even though he was a vampire and supposedly unable to love he loved his sister and wanted something to remember her, even though he knew he always would. He had kept the dress a secret from Angelus, because he knew that if Angelus knew he would make fun of him and probably find it a reason to beat him.
“What are you doing, Spike?” Spike heard a voice say from behind him and he turned around fast.
“Oh, ‘ello, Willow, nothing, just some reorganizing.” Spike lied. He had emptied three of the five trunks he owned, two of them were filled with some of his old stuff from both before and after he became a vampire, in another two he held weapons and in the last one he had clothes.
“Um, it looks more like you’re messing up your crypt. Why?” Willow asked a little bolder than Spike expected.
“No reason, just thought, oh I don’t know what I thought but it’s a mess and your are here because?” Spike questioned looking quizzically at her.
“Oh, right, well we were wondering if you would mind coming back to help us.” Willow said hopefully.
“I guess I could. What time is it?” Spike asked suddenly very concerned about the time.
“Eight O’clock. Why?” Willow asked.
“Just wondering. I have to talk to that guy Nate before I come over.” Spike said. Willow confused him. There were times when she was super quiet and there were times where she would take charge; there were also the times where she was in between. She just confused him.
“Ok we’ll be ready if you come.” Willow said and Spike nodded an agreement.
“Did you get any sleep?” Willow asked suddenly before she opened the crypt door.
“Yeah, why?” Spike asked puzzled.
“You look really tired.” Willow said and she left. Spike was definitely confused now. He knew he had slept because he remembered having the weird dream about Buffy and his old self. Spike decided he wouldn’t think about what she had said and went back to looking for the dress.
“So have you seen this thing?” Spike asked. He was at the bar and talking to Nate. He was not only pumping this guy for information he was also trying to cheer himself up with a drink. He had searched the entire time after Willow had left and had still not found the dress.
“I’ve heard of it. It sends a person places so that they can learn about someone else. Sometimes they summon it or the other person summons it.” Nate said pouring drinks for other people, well some were people, as he talked.
“Can he send people back in time?” Spike asked curiously.
“Sure. That happens a lot.” Nate said.
“Thanks. I’ll see you around.” Spike said and he left.
“I have an idea of where she might be.” Spike said as he came waltzing into Giles’s house.
“Where?” Xander was the one to ask while everybody else just looked at him.
“It’s going to sound crazy but she might be back in time.” Spike said, Xander was the first to burst into a fit of laughter and then everybody, except for Spike, followed him. Nobody, not even Tara or Willow noticed the look of hurt and disappointment cross his face.
“Spike, that was good, I haven’t had a laugh like that in a long time. That was bloody great.” Giles said as he wiped the tears away from his eyes.
“I wasn’t kidding. I think she really is back in time, with me, well William me.” Spike said seriously and suddenly everyone became serious. They realized that Spike wasn’t scamming them.
“What makes you think that?” Giles asked seriously.
“Well last night I had a dream. I was William and coming home from school or something when I tripped over something when I went to see what it was I saw a girl. I took the girl home to my mother who fixed her up and that’s about it.” Spike said not going into to much detail about his dream.
“Do you think that was just a dream? Did you see who the girl was?” Giles asked wiping his glasses.
“It wasn’t just a dream because when I woke up I remembered actually doing that and the girl was Buffy. I know this for sure because she told me her name in the dream.” Spike said remember her voice.
“Where exactly did you come up with this idea, Spike?” Giles asked
“Oh, this guy Nate I was going to see. He told me this thing sends a person places so that they can learn about someone else. Sometimes they summon it or the other person summons it. I asked if it could send people to the past and he told me it could.” Spike explained.
“Well at least we’re moving forward in our search. We’ve found out what this thing does.” Willow said.
“Yes we have. Looks like we’re back on research though. I want to figure out how to get her back.” Giles said and everybody, including Spike, hit the books.
