“Oh my god the was soo boring,” Meredith said as she exited class with Nolan

“Know what you mean,” Nolan replied, “Hey, my snoring wasn’t to loud was it?”

Meredith laughed

“I don’t think anyone noticed.”

“It just when Mr. Baxter started to talk about ions or gas or whatever . . .”

“You get very sleepy.”

“Yeah, it like you understands me.”

Meredith shrugged coyly as they arrived at Nolan’s locker. He opened it and exchanged books. When he closed it again he was stunned to see Meredith still standing next to him.

“You’re still here?” he asked curiously, “Why are you still here?”

Meredith looked at him in an amused confusion.

“Shouldn’t I be?” she asked

“No, it’s great, it’s just most girls would have run by now.”

Meredith smiled suggestively at him

“I don’t believe that.” she replied

“It’s true,” Nolan replied opening his locker again, “I have a chart around here someplace if you wanna take a look.”

Meredith laughed and touched him on the arm.

“It’s okay I don’t need to see it,” Meredith replied, “I find you interesting.”

“Ah . . . thanks?”

Nolan closed his locker and Meredith slipped her arm through his.

“Come on I think we have English.”

Rebecca stood out side the school. She leaned against one of the walls and watched the football team practice. This was now officially out of hand. She was infected with a deadly virus and the only person who could possibly help doesn’t believe a word because of the deceit of the new council of watchers.

“Penny for your thoughts?” Principal Crawford asked, “I have a quarter if you can’t make change.”

Rebecca smiled.

“It’s just some personal things. I . . . My family is going through a lot of drama.”

“I see. Is that why you’ve been so tense around here lately?”

Rebecca looked at the principal curiously as he leaned next to her.

“Some of the teachers have been commenting on it.”

“I’m not in trouble am I?”

“Oh no they think your doing a great job with the kids they just noticed that you seem a little on edge.”

Rebecca looked down thoughtfully.

“It’s funny,” she said quietly, “I should be used to the drama by now.”

It was Principal Crawford’s turn to look curious.

“This has happened before?”

“In a manner of speaking”

“Is it serious?”

Rebecca sighed and looked back up at the football team.

“Yeah.”

Principal Crawford frowned.

“Listen if you need time off to deal with whatever’s happening you come see me alright?”

Rebecca turned and looked over to Principal Crawford.

“Thanks Simon.”

Nigel paced seriously backwards and forwards in the library. He had almost exhausted every resource he had and was still no closer to finding out what ‘The Signum’ is. He rested Heidi’s sketch on the overhead projector to put it out of the way. As he turned his elbow brushed the on switch and the projector whirred to life.

“Oh blast!” he exclaimed as he turned

He was about to switch it off when he caught the reflection of the projected drawing. He swung around sharply. His attention was focused in three symbols placed in the center of each of the three segments. Slowly a look of shock crossed his face.

“It couldn’t be.” he said

Nigel turned and bolted to the back of the library where his office was. He charged inside and began to open the combination on the floor safe he brought with him to the school. Inside the safe were select volumes of books. They were placed in the safe because of their rarity and the specific knowledge held in each of them. Nigel scanned his finger across the spines until he found the book he was looking for. Running back he slammed the book on the table and began to shuffle through the pages wildly. After a short moment of searching he came across and illustration which matched Heidi’s sketch perfectly. Nigel began to read through the information.

Slowly he began to lean back on his chair the color draining from his face. Nigel looked up in informed terror.

“Oh good god!” he exclaimed

At lunch time Heidi performed her usual ritual of sitting alone. She unwrapped her sandwiches and began to eat when she was joined by Belle. Heidi looked up at her curious.

“I’m sorry were you waiting for someone?” Belle asked apologetically

Heidi shook her head.

“N-nobody want’s to sit with Me.” she replied

Belle smiled at the nervous girl

“That’s not true. I’m sure there’d be tones of people who’d like to sit here.”

“N-nobody likes be ‘Cause I’m weird.”

“Hey, stop talking like that! You’re not weird your different like me and the councilor . . . and Nolan but you don’t want to be his kind of Different.”

Heidi smiled slightly. If felt good to talk to someone who wasn’t looking at her like she’s dangerous. Just then Nolan arrived. He sat down just as he received a punch on the arm from his sister.

“OW! Hey, what was that for?” He asked annoyed

“Let’s start with stealing my homework!” she replied

Nolan smirked at her.

“Keep that up and I won’t give you this.”

Nolan pulled out a list from his pocket and waved it at her. He waved it slow enough for Belle to realize what he was holding.

“Oh my god! Is that the list?” she asked

“Yep got Coach Miller to print me off an extra copy.”

“Give it!” she yelled as she tried to garb the list

Nolan pulled it away smirking at her.

“Not until you say you’re sorry.”

Belle flashed Nolan a look.

“How ‘bout I break your arm?”

Nolan’s smirk dropped.

“That’ll work to.” he replied handing her the list.

Belle quickly scanned the list for her name. She squealed excitedly when she realized it was on the top. She leaned over and hugged her brother tightly.

“This is so perfect!” she said

“Hell yeah,” Nolan replied, “We’re gonna have to work extra hard though but with your super speed you’re gonna cream the competition.”

The smile dropped from Belles face. This is something she didn’t think about before.

“Yeah,” she replied seriously, “my super speed.”

Suddenly the list was snatched from Belle’s hand. She looked up to see Sarah and her entourage standing over them.

“Look girls Galloway made first place,” she said sarcastically, “You know what they say about girls who do track don’t you?”

Belle folded her arms angrily and glared at Sarah.

“What?” she asked

“They’re not pretty or smart enough to become a cheerleader.”

“Hey!” Nolan yelled at them, “she might not be pretty but she’s smart enough to become a cheerleader if she want’s!”

Belle looked over to Nolan annoyed

“Thanks Nolan you’re a real pal.” She said blandly

Sarah smirked at the two of them. She then noticed Heidi sitting anxiously on the other side of the table.

“Your sitting with the freak now Galloway?” she said, “God, I thought I had low standards talking to you guys.”

Heidi frowned. Her bottom lip began to tremble.

“Watch out she’s a witch,” one of Sarah’s friends said, “She might do something to you like she did to Britney.”

The tears began to form in Heidi’s as she stood up and bolted from the table.

“Heidi,” Belle said in concern

After shooting one last look at Sarah she stood up and followed Heidi.

Rebecca sat quietly in the teachers lounge when Nigel stormed in and stood over her. Rebecca sighed.

“If you’re coming to apologize don’t bother. This is the last time the council . . . “she started

“Come with me now!” he replied forcefully

Rebecca looked up at him curiously. There was an anxious determination in his eyes.

“What? What is it?”

From his pocket Nigel pulled out the drawing. He slapped it down in front of the Divine One and pointed at ‘The Signum’.

“I know what this is.”

Back in the library Nigel handed the book to Rebecca who studied the illustration.

“So what am I looking at?” Rebecca asked

“This device is called ‘Signum eros ligula’ or ‘The Seal of the three’.” Nigel explained, “I had a hard time trying to identify it because this device has been constructed over many years by at least a dozen cultures.”

“Do we know what the three is?”

Nigel looked at Rebecca seriously.

“This, I’m afraid, is where you come in.”

Nigel laid the illustration on the projector and switched it on. A larger version appeared on the wall and Nigel picked up a nearby ruler to use as a pointer.

“See these three markings?” Nigel said pointing to the symbols in the center of each piece, “Do they look familiar to you?”

Rebecca walked up next to the watcher and studies the projection. She pointed to one of the symbols.

“That almost looks like a wolf.” She replied

“Exactly and the one next to it has the appearance of a sheep, or to be more precise, a Ram. Do you see where I’m going?”

Rebecca’s face dropped. She didn’t like the direction this was heading. Nigel moved back to his notes and brought them back to Rebecca.

“After studying these three symbols I rechecked my translation and found it had a more colloquial name.” Nigel continued, “The seal of the three, it’s also known as . . . The Trinity Seal.”

Rebecca swung around and stared at the watcher unable to speak.

“This seal has only one purpose. To bring back the senior partners of Wolfram and Hart if they were ever defeated by the Divine One.”

Rebecca had to sit down. This shock was overwhelming. It took most of her strength to Defeat the Trinity the first time. She’s not sure if she could do it a second time especially now that she is infected.

Belle entered the girl’s bathroom in her pursuit of Heidi. She heard the sound of crying coming from one of the stalls. Carefully belle opened the door to see Heidi sitting on one of the toilets her eyes red and puffy from the tears. Belle knelt down in front of her.

“Don’t worry about Sarah she’s just a bitch.” Belle said softly, “Don’t pay any attention to what she says.”

“S-she said it because I’m a freak.” Heidi replied

Belle smiled at her.

“Then that would make me a freak.” She replied

Heidi looked at her confused. Belle put her hand on Heidi’s shoulder supportively.

“It’s true,” Belle explained, “You get to see the future. I have to hunt vampires for god’s sake. There’s nothing wrong with you Heidi people just don’t understand us and what we have to do.”

“b-because were freaks?”

“Now you’re getting it.”

Heidi laughed slightly. Belle sighed and hugged the seer. Just then Meredith walked into the bathroom. She looked at the two hugging girl curiously for a moment then moved over to the mirror to touch up her makeup. Heidi noticed Meredith and looked at her curiously. Suddenly a look of panic crossed the seers face. She watched as Meredith left then looked at Belle seriously.

“I-I have to go.” she said

Belle smiled and nodded letting her out of the stall. She made it to the hall just in time to see Meredith enter the cafeteria.

“Demon.” Heidi said to herself quietly

Nolan sat on his own in the cafeteria and examined his lunch for anything that he might not like. A moment later Meredith sat down in front and began to unwrap her own food.

“Hey,” she said Nolan

Nolan looked up in surprise.

“You’re sitting with me.” Nolan remarked

“You noticed that to?”

Meredith noticed Nolan’s confused expression and stopped fiddling with her lunch.

“Are you waiting for your girlfriend?”

“What? No I, ah, I don’t have a girlfriend.”

“Who’s that blondish girl you keep hanging with?”

“That’s just Belle my sister.”

“Oh,” Meredith replied, “So no girlfriend huh?”

Nolan, against his own will, began to blush as he noticed Meredith’s mischievous smile.

“What are you doing after school?” she continued

Nolan ran his schedule quickly through his head.

“My sister has a . . . thing she needs to do in the library straight after school I like to help her with but after that I’m free. What, ah, what did you have in mind.”

“I don’t really know the town yet and I was thinking that it might be good if you showed me around,” Meredith replied sweetly, “You know just you and me.”

Nolan giggled out loud but quickly regained his composure.

“Sound like a plan.” Nolan replied.

Nolan looked down at his watch.

“Oh man I gotta go,” he announced, “Got a history paper to rewrite before my sister kills me.”

Nolan jumped up from the table and shot out of the room. Meredith watched him suggestively. When he had disappear from sight she tossed away the sandwich she was unwrapping and reached inside for her real lunch. Meredith opened the large plastic container she was carrying in her bag to reveal a fresh human brain. Meredith picked it up and opened her mouth. it stretched to three times the size it should and she swallowed the organ whole.

Nolan was going to be a great meal for her. And when the time was right she was going to make her move.
