CLEM ISLAND - 2045
Buffy has assembled everyone in the hangar. The full moon is out and the light is shining through the open doors. All 120 of them are stuffed shoulder to shoulder, except for Kennedy, of course. She is leaning against the frame of the hangar door smoking a cigarette, yet another defiance against her mother.
BUFFY-
"After that last mission, two people close to me gave me something to think about. A lot of you newer Slayers and Wiccans are young enough to barey remember the world before the demons took it over. I'm 63 years old, but I can still remember clearly the way the world was. And it was a beautiful place to be. I want it back. (everyone starts to mumble and look around) That's right. Starting now, when we send a mission out, they are taking over and staying." Kennedy throws down her half finished cigarette and stares at her mother. "Everyone start getting ready....our first target is Hawai'i."
After the meeting, Kennedy walks up to her mother. She looks into Buffy's eyes.
KENNEDY-
"I thought that sending 120 people to take on 6 billion demons was suicide."
BUFFY-
"I talked to Willow, and she agreed with you. Plus, she was right....I don't want to die knowing that they have won."
KENNEDY-
"They're not going to. Why Hawai'i?"
BUFFY-
"Sounds logical. Why do you have a better idea?"
KENNEDY-
"Hawai'i.....and Lima, Peru. At the same time."
BUFFY-
"Hit them at the same time? So, forty of us go to Hawai'i, forty to Peru, and the rest stay here for defense."
KENNEDY-
"I'll get ready." Buffy wasn't sure, but she thought she saw a small grin on Kennedy's face.
Dawn was sitting on her desk in the her office. The former head of the Wacther's Council was checking on the stats for Hawai'i and Peru. The estimated number of demons, the area of the country, and makeup of the land. She was also assigning the teams. Dawn had already decided that Gia and Kristen would stay on the island. Xander comes up behind and starts rubbing his wife's shoulders.
DAWN-
"That feels good, honey."
XANDER-
"Knew it would."
DAWN-
"They're still alive, you know that right?"
Joyce, her husband, and Dawn's five year old grandson have been missing since the take over. Everyone except Dawn believed they were dead. She refused to give up, and it almost caused her and Xander's divorce a few years ago. He was so happy when they made up. Xander Harris kisses Dawn and then leaves so she can get back to work. Silently he prayed for Dawn's sanity if the news turned out bad.
