“Oh my god,” Dawn said, staring at the rubble that had been the slayer training facility. Buffy, Faith, Willow, Andrew, and Spikes stood by her side. It was dark out.
“Everything’s gone,” Faith said, an unknown sadness in her voice, “It was the only place I was every really able to call home and now it’s gone.”
Willow nodded, “It’s crazy, all this from one big bad.”
“Buffy, you okay?” Dawn asked her older sister, who was just string pensively at the rubble.
The school had been decimated, nothing was left. No shred of evidence that they were ever there. All the memories, the furniture, the books were gone and all that was left were the charred ghosts of what had been there.
“Buffy?” Dawn said again, trying to hide the worry in her voice. Buffy smiled, Dawn had grown up so much.
Buffy nodded, “I’m fine,” she said, putting her arm around Dawn, kissing her head, and hugging her close. She was so grateful Dawn was still here and not one of the many bodies hidden beneath the rubble.
“Buffy you’re cutting off my oxygen and messing up my hair,” Dawn said and Buffy let go of her baby sister.
“Not that I care but where’s Andrew?” Spike asked.
“I don’t know,” Buffy said.
“He was here before,” Willow said beginning too look around and then on cue Andrew walked over. He had been somewhere in the rubble.
“Look what I found,” he said, excitedly, holding up a small figurine that was slightly charred, “It’s my limited edition superman figurine,” Andrew smiled to himself, “I knew nothing could keep Superman down. He’s indestructible.”
“It’s a bloody doll!” Spike exclaimed and everyone laughed at his out burst.
“We should get started looking for clues,” Willow said as she walked into the wreckage. Faith followed her close behind carrying a flash light.
Andrew was too busy with his superman figurine, “Come on,” Dawn said. She didn’t even bother to hide her annoyance as she grabbed his arm and pulled him into the debris after Willow and Faith.
“Hey watch it,” Andrew yelled, “I’m wearing Prada!”
“I think I finally realized why I never came to find you,” Spike said as he walked closer to Buffy and stood next to her.
“And why’s that?” Buffy asked, a smirk playing across her lips. She had a good idea what the answer was.
“I could never out up with the nerd or the pitter patter of slayer girly feet.”
Buffy shook her head and smiled, “Come on,” she said, tugging gently on his leather duster.
