LOS ANGELES - 2002
Joss is on stage during a discussion session at the Academy of Television Science and Arts. On stage with him are James, Michelle, Nick, Aly, Marti, and Carey Meyer, the production deisgner.
COMMENTATOR-
"Some people had complained about the darkest of the sixth season....how do you respond to that?"
JOSS-
"Uh....oops!" (shrugs as the audience laughs).
The next day, Joss and everyone is gathering at the office for the last pre-season meeting. This time it was different than when the WB dropped the show. This time it was Joss's decision. Joss was happy with this decision....he was tired of the politics of TV networks. Firefly was cancelled, and rumor was Angel may only last one or two more seasons, and if his show was going off the air, it would be his way.
MARTI-
"So....this is it? The last season."
JOSS-
"Yup....our way, and we going out in a big way."
JANE-
"Who's the big bad? And what about Spike having a soul?"
JOSS-
"The big bad is going to be The First. And I want a story arc at the beginning of the season about Spike's soul and the consquences."
MARTI-
"The First can't hurt no one directly, so let's have a bad guy that does."
JOSS-
"We do...a guy dressed as a preacher named Caleb and Nathan Fillion will play him."
JANE-
"Mal from Firefly?"
JOSS-
"Yeah....damn, I wish I could give everyone from Firefly a role on Buffy or Angel. Okay...let's go finish this show off."
