Willow stood in front of her new dorm room at her new school. Her stuff had already been deposited there by someone while she was given a tour of the campus. It was nice but it wasn’t home.

Willow sighed she wasn’t sure if she should knock out of respect for her new roommate or if she should just use her key. It was her dorm as well after all. She bit her lip thinking about her dilemma. She didn’t want to make the wrong choice and start off on the wrong foot with her roommate.

She decided it was best if she knocked but there was no answer. Willow pressed her ear to the door and she could hear the muffled sound of loud punk rock music being played. She took her key out and unlocked the door, entering her new room.

She looked around it was nice 2 beds, one on either side of the room, 2 desks, 2 bed side tables with lamps, and 2 closet. It was like Noah’s Ark Willow thought, giggling at her thought.

“What’s so funny?” her roommate asked as she turned off the music. She had brown curly hair with a few red highlights. She was wearing a form fitting red t-shirt, dark red lipstick, (Willow sensed a theme) and a pair of ripped jeans. She also had on a pair of long white gloves, Willow thought that was kind of strange but she just shrugged it off.

“Nothing, I was just thinking how this room is kinda like Noah’s ark.”

The girl raised and eye brown in confusion.

“Two off everything,” Willow clarified.

The girl looked around the room, “I guess. I’m Gwen Raiden.”

“Willow Rosenberg,” Willow said, holding out her hand. Gwen didn’t take it.

“So where you from Cherry bear?”

“Sunnydale, California. What about you?”

“L.A. Well it was nice meeting you but I gotta go see you around oh and by the way love the hair,” Gwen said with a smile as she left the room.

Willow’s brow furrowed in confusion but she just shook her head and proceeded to unpack her things.

Willow sat in the back of class and sighed. She had been at her new school for almost a week and she had failed to make any new friends. Any social skills she thought she might have picked up from Buffy seemed to be nonexistent. Willow yawned. She was bored. She wasn’t sure why but for some reason the magic of school wasn’t really getting to her today.

Magic, Willow smiled at the word. A little wouldn’t hurt she thought. She began to levitate her pencil, careful to keep the floating object hidden behind the student in front of her.

“Cool trick,” a girl next to her whispered, causing Willow to lose her concentration.

The pencil fell to her desk and Willow’s eyes darted over to the girl next to her. She had jet black hair and bangs that swept to the side. She wore a uniform, the blue plaid skirt, white button shirt, and navy blue sweater over the button down, like everyone else but there was something about her Willow just couldn’t place. Willow was about to make up some excuse explain it was a trick of light or that she was a magician but the bell rang and the girl left before she had a chance.

“Nice going Willow,” she said to herself as she collected her books.

“So who’s the new girl?” the girl with jet black hair said to Gwen and another girl they were sitting with outside during lunch. Willow came out of the school carrying a lunch and looking around for a place to sit.

“Willow?” Gwen said.

“You know her,” the girl replied.

“She’s my roommate, why are so interested in her?”

“Because she’s our fourth.”

“What?” the other girl at the table said. She was African American and she had short curly hair.

“Don’t you guys read anymore,” the girl said, throwing a book on the table.

The African American girl opened it up and began to read allowed, “’And during waxing moon, when Jupiter is in line with Saturn a 4 will come in the form a girl with the natural gift.’ You think she’s our fourth.”

“I saw her levitate a pencil.”

“Hey Willow! Over here!” Gwen yelled, getting the red heads attention.

Willow was about to make her way over there when she felt a hand on her arm. She looked over and saw it belonged to a boy. He had shaggy black hair with bangs that covered his eyes slightly and he was wearing black nail polish and eye liner, “I wouldn’t go over there if I were you.”

“Why not?”

“Because those girls and trouble. No one talks to them. They’re kinda the freaks of the school and unless you wanna be one….”

“You’re the one wearing eye liner,” Willow threw back. It was so uncharacteristic of her but somehow it had just slipped out.

He raised his eyebrow at the comment, “At least I’m not an evil witch.”

“Huh?”

“Everyone says the practice black magic. Even the nuns are scared of them, say they worship Satan or something,” he shrugged, “I’m Jamison by the way.”

“Willow and thanks for the concern but I think I’ll take my chances.”

“Suit yourself.”

Willow watched him go and then walked over to the table and sat down with the 3 girls.

“Hi,” she said.

“Hey Willow,” Gwen replied, “These are my friends Michelle,” she indicated the African American girl, “and Kate,” she indicated the girl who had caught Willow levitating a pencil.
