LOS ANGELES - 2001
Joss walked into the large backstage of the set. A beutiful cake with the number 100 on it was on the table. The entire cast and crew was then, as well as a couple of guys from the WB and 20th Century Fox. Everyone started to clap when Joss walks in. It was the series 100th episode, not bad for a show hardly anyone believed in at first.
JOSS-
"Thank you everybody. These last five years have been the best of my life. I want to thank with WB and 20th Century Fox for having us. Again...thank you." Everyone started clapping again, and started to eat some cake....except Joss. He walked back to the set and sat in one of the chairs next to a camera. Marti walks up to him.
MARTI-
"Are you okay?"
JOSS-
"They're dumping us, Marti. The rat bastards at the WB are cancelling the show."
MARTI-
"What!? I thought you were doing well in the ratings, the internet and fan base are way up. I don't get it."
JOSS-
"It's about money....they can't decide on re-runs and what network with show syndicated shows. Money....it's all about money."
For the next two days, Joss was depressed. At least the WB renewed Angel for another year, and pre-production for Firefly was going well. Suddenly, the phone rang and Joss picked it up. It was a Vice President from the UPN.
VP-
"Mr. Wheddon, we understand that the WB has dropped Buffy, and we want to help."
JOSS-
"How can you help."
VP-
"Well....we want to make an offer for two season of Buffy to be shown on the UPN."
JOSS-
"Wait....you want to show re-runs of Buffy?"
VP-
"Nope. Brand new episodes. Hello....Mr. Whedon?" Joss has sat the phone down on the desk and was busy doing the Snoopy Dance.
