“Morning, Buffy, a guy named Jack O’Neill called this morning and said that he could meet you.” Dawn said as Buffy came in to the kitchen.
“Thanks, Dawn. Did he say when he could?” Buffy inquired.
“This Friday, which is in two days.” Dawn said smiling a little.
“That’s great. Dawn, this man could possibly tell us something about this Daniel Jackson guy.” Buffy said.
“That means finding Spike, doesn’t it?” Dawn asked hopeful
“It might. Sounds like Spike has been visited by this guy already and this guy gave him an option about whether or not he wanted to be saved.” Buffy said not sure if she should’ve told Dawn the last part.
“Do you think Spike will want to be saved?” Dawn asked a little worried.
“Of course he will, Dawnie. He wants to see you and probably try to bug us all.” Buffy said forcing a smiling on her face trying to lighten up the mood.
“He wants to see you more.” Dawn said smiling a little and then ran upstairs to get dressed.
“Yeah, you better run missy.” Buffy said trying not to laugh, she wasn’t sure if she believed what she said though, she knew Spike liked her, maybe even love but she hadn’t been the nicest person in the world to him when he got back from Africa.
“Colonel O’Neill?” Buffy said. It was Friday and she was at the Espresso Pump meeting Colonel Jack O’Neill.
“Yeah, it’s me.” A man with blue jeans, a gray T-shirt, a black leather jacket, and military green baseball cap said.
“So what do you know about Daniel Jackson?” Buffy asked, she didn’t notice the look of hurt go quickly across the colonel’s face.
“Maybe you should sit down and tell me what happened.” Colonel O’Neill said, hinting for Buffy to sit across from him.
“Well, I was getting ready for, um well something, let’s put it at that, and I hear this voice call out my name and I don’t recognize it so I turn around. He told me his name and then said he was there to help before I said anything else to him I called a friend of mine that was staying at the house in and he thought that your friend was something else, but then he told how was ascended or something and that he was kind of dead and that you helped him. He also said something about somebody named Oma Desalla and a people called the ancients.” Buffy said not sure if this man would think she was telling the truth or if he would think she was just plain crazy.
“Gosh that’s sounds like him.” Jack said really to himself.
“So you believe me then?” Buffy asked with disbelief
“Um yeah I do. One quick question what did you think he may have been if not what he said?” Jack asked curiously looking at her with his brown eyes.
“That you wouldn’t believe me on.” Buffy said hoping he wouldn’t press her.
“Try me.” Was all Jack said.
“Well you better come back to my place. I can explain it better there.” Buffy said as she started to get. She hadn’t had any coffee so she didn’t have to pay for anything, which she was happy about since she did have a ton of money for whatever.
“Alright, did you drive or walk?” Jack asked as they walked out side.
“Walked, not the best driver in the world.” Buffy said and was about to split off from him until he grabbed her arm gently.
“I have my truck, we can drive.” Jack said kindly when Buffy turned around.
“Ok, thanks.” Buffy said as she and Colonel O’Neill walked over to his black 4x4. She gave him directions on how to get to her house and that was about all the talking that occurred.
“Dawn, I’m back.” Buffy called as she walked in the door. She told Jack that he could just place his jacket on the coat rack but he decided he would keep it on.
“Hey Buffy, and you must be Colonel O’Neill.” Dawn said as she came down the steps.
“Hello, yes I am and are you Dawn?” Jack asked looking at Dawn.
“Yep. So are you going to help us save Spike?” Dawn asked smiling.
“Dawn.” Buffy said a little angrily.
“What are you talking about?” Jack asked curiously, wondering why she had asked him that.
“Nothing. Dawn do you have any homework?” Buffy asked making sure Dawn didn’t say anything else.
“Yes.” Dawn said half-heartedly and then ran upstairs to do it.
“What was she talking about, saving Spike?” Jack asked as he and Buffy went to go sit on the couch.
“Well that’s part of what I’m going to explain to you. You may not believe a lot of what I tell you, if any but it’s all true. I’m what you call a vampire slayer and I well slay vampires. A month or so ago a friend of mine, who is a vampire, but he’s good, went to get his soul back and when he came back he was a little crazy. He would here voices in his head and they would tell him how worthless he was and how I would never love him the way he wanted me to, which at the moment is true but he’s a friend, then something started to happen where he this thing would sing a song and he would start to feed off of people, by the way he can’t really hurt humans because these military people, Marines I think, put a chip in his head that prevents him from doing that stuff, so when he did start feeding we thought the thing was malfunctioning and I was about to kill him since one I thought he was lying to me when he said he wasn’t killing anymore and two because he was killing, well one night he calls me up and says he remembers stuff and to meet him somewhere. I do and then I fight some vamps and then take him back to my place where I chain him up. Well a couple of weeks ago he was taken by what we call the Bringers and we found out this thing called the First had captured him. The reason we thought that your friend was him was because he had told us he had died and because we could put our hand through him.” Buffy said looking at Jack trying to figure out what he was thinking but couldn’t.
“That’s um wow. I can tell you this much listen to Daniel and can’t believe I’m saying this if it’s all right with you I can stay here and help you know for sure.” Jack said not looking straight at her.
“That would be great.” Buffy said and then she got a look on her face as if she had remembered something not so great.
“Just remembered there’s not really any room other than the basement.” Buffy said looking apologetic.
“That’s fine. I’ve had worse.” Jack said and it was settled he was staying there for a little while.
