"Thanks for coming along. I didn't really feel like being alone tonight." Buffy said as she walked with Spike in the graveyard.
"No problem. So what's up?" Spike said
"Nothing. I just didn't want to be alone that's all." Buffy said a little defensively.
"I may be a dead soulless guy but that doesn't mean I can't tell when something is bothering you." Spike replied
"Fine. Xander went out with this girl, Willow is studying, and Giles is to into his books. I just felt a little, never mind." Buffy said half getting lost in her thoughts.
"Come on, Buffy. You felt left out like you don't fit into everybody's every day normal life." Spike said bluntly.
"Um, well I guess that is what I felt. How'd you guess?" Buffy inquired
"Hey I had my "felt left out" times before I became a vampire and possibly after but that doesn't really matter now" Spike said really not wanting to remember the time when he was human and nobody really wanted to be with him.
"Yeah I guess everybody does. Seems like everything is pretty quiet tonight that's kind of nice." Buffy said suddenly coming back to what she was doing.
"I guess that's good I was kind of hoping for a fight though, hey what's that over there." Spike said as he noticed some movement a couple hundred feet in front of him and Buffy.
"I'm not sure. Come on let's go check it out." Buffy said as she walked a bit cautiously over to the movement.
"It's a demon of some sort. Do you recognize it, Spike?" Buffy asked
"Not particularly. It looks weird." Spike said in his nonchalant way.
"Great. Well you wanted a fight let's go get one." Buffy said and she and Spike rushed over to the thing.
Spike got the demon's back and Buffy rushed to the front of it although Spike felt that he should have been in the front but he didn't argue because he could truly see that Buffy was in her fighting mood and nobody messed with her when she was in that mood even if it was for a good reason.
"Spike, distract him so I can get something that should be able to hurt him." Buffy said and she ran off before Spike could try to stop her.
As Buffy ran back to where Spike was, holding the dagger that Faith had given her awhile back, she heard a scream and she knew that it was from Spike. He didn't usually scream when he fought so Buffy knew something was wrong so she ran faster than she was running. By the time she got there Spike was laying unconscious against a headstone and the demon thing was doing something to him which only made her want to kill it more so she rushed over to it dagger pointed out so that it would stab the demon and hopefully kill it.
The demon must have heard her coming because seconds before Buffy stabbed it, it turned and smacked her so hard in the face that it sent her flying and knocked her unconscious.
When Buffy started to come to she could see her friend Willow and Giles talking and she felt a wet cloth being wiped across her face.
"She's waking up." A voice she recognized to be Angel's, which made her eyes snap open.
"Angel. How are you it's been awhile, well maybe only a couple of days, since I've seen you. Sorry I didn't come over when your mom told me that you were sick, you still haven't told me why you still live there. I've told you that my brother would be happy to house you." Buffy said and Angel, Willow, and Giles all looked at each other.
"Hey, sis. Tell me why I'm in your dorm room. Don't tell me I drank a few too many and had to crash. I knew I shouldn't have gone to that party last night." Spike said from the Willow's bed in which he was laying.
"Yeah, afraid so. I think we both did actually I think that I had a little more than you." Buffy said as she started to get up but then decided that she wouldn't and laid back down.
"Giles could I speak to a minute in the hall? I'll be right back, Buffy." Angel said as he and Giles went into the hall.
"So Will, how's Oz doing?" Spike asked from the bed he was laying on.
"Um, good, never knew you like him." Willow said curiously also wondering why he had just called her, her nickname.
"What is it Angel?" Giles asked once they were in the hallway.
"I think something happened to those two. You and I and everybody else in that room knows that Spike isn't Buffy's brother and we all know that he and I barely get along. One other thing they treated me like I was human." Angel said trying to figure out in his head what was going on with the two.
"I think you're right Angel well let's get back in there and see what's going on." Giles said as he headed back into Buffy and Willow's dorm room.
"How are you guys doing? Is there anything you two need?" Giles asked Buffy and Spike not sure he was offering to help Spike.
"Dad, what are you doing here?" Buffy asked as she popped up from the bed completely forgetting the pounding in her head as she ran over and hugged Giles which took him off quite a bit.
"Mum, said you weren't getting back from visiting Aunt Jenny for another two weeks. Good to see anyways." Spike said with a huge boyish grin on his face, like the kind a boy gets when gets a new baseball.
"Buffy, Spike, what are you two…" Giles would have finished if it wasn't for the glare he got from Angel.
"Oh, shoot, we have to get to class, come on Buffy or Professor Fine is sure to kick us out of his class for good." Spike said as he looked for a book bag of some sort and when he didn't find it decided he would just ask Buffy for some paper as they headed to Introductory to World History.
