Everyone stood at Dumbledore’s funeral; most of the teacher’s have even come back for the occasion. Everyone was huddled around the grave comforting one another and crying softly. Ron held Hermione in his arms as she cried and Connor and Dawn stood side by side as they watched the grim proceedings. Willow and Tara held each other while they both cried.
Professor McGonagall, who was now the new headmistress, stood up and gave the eulogy. It was eloquent and appropriate yet everyone was too consumed in their own grief to hear the words.

“I can’t believe he’s gone,” Hermione said in a barley audible voice as she walked with Connor, Dawn, Harry, Ron, and Ginny back up to the school.
“I know, I always thought he’d be around forever,” Harry said.
“No one lives forever,” Dawn said, knowing too well what had happened to her mother and many other people she loved.
“Hey, guys,” Ron said as he stared at the lake, “Guys!”
“Ron what is boy, did Timmy fall down the well?” Connor joked.
Ron just scowled at him and pointed at the lake, which was bubbling and boiling. They all watched in horror as a dead fish rose to the surface. A crowd of students was beginning to form around the lake and the all watch as various creatures tried to escape on to the shore to avoid the scalding water.
“Everyone back to the school,” McGonagall commanded as some of the other teachers began to usher students away, “Madam Pomfrey, please go fetch some water we need to get them somewhere safe.”
She was indicating the various mer-people that were know gasping for air on the shore.
“And water will boil,” Giles intoned, “Its coming.”
“Do you think we’ll ever have a year without an apocalypse or some type of impending doom,” Buffy asked.
“I highly doubt it.”

“It looks like we’re the only one’s staying for break,” Harry told Dawn and Connor the next day as they walked in to the empty great hall. They had just finished saying goodbye to Ron, Hermione, Ginny, and the other Wesleys. All of whom were going home for the holidays.
“Hey, feel like playing a game of wizard chess,” Connor asked Harry.
“Yeah, sure,” he said as they went to a nearby table where a game was set up.
Dawn was about to follow them when the light hit something on the floor and caused it to shine, catching her eye. She bent down and picked it up. It was a small bottle/ vial with a cloudy white substance inside.
“Hey, guys look at this,” she said, showing them the bottle.
“What’s that?” Connor asked.
“I don’t know, I just found it,” Dawn shrugged.
“It looks like the stuff in Dumbledore’s pensive,” Harry said as he held the bottle and examined it more closely.
“I’ll show it to Giles later, see if he knows what it is,” Dawn said, pocketing the small bottle.

Harry was walking back to the Gryffindor common room when he heard McGonagall talking to someone.
“If anything else happens I’m afraid we are going to have to close Hogwarts,” McGonagall said.
“Close the school?” Hagrid said, “Dumbledore would have nev…”
“Hagrid, students’ lives are in danger. The headmaster has been killed inside the very walls of this school,” McGonagall said.
“Does anyone else know that yet?” Snape asked.
“No but they are bound to find out. Hogwarts is not safe anymore. If this problem isn’t remedied soon. I’ll be forced to close the school,” she said.
Harry heard them beginning to leave the room so he ran off down the corridor and towards the common room.
