BATHE, ENGLAND - 2022
Maple is sitting in Giles's chair, barely able to keep her eyes open. The trip and then the crying have worn her out. Buffy motions to Kendra and Gia to take her upstairs and put her to bed. Joyce was busy looking up any types of invisible demons on the Council Inventory Database (CIDB). Dawn waited until Maple was upstairs and tucked in.
DAWN-
"Okay, we have two problems. One, we need to find out who is trying to set up Maple, and two what this up with Willow."
XANDER-
"I really hate to bring this up, and no disrepect to Maple, but are we sure she's not lying?"
GIA-
"No...she was telling the truth." Dawn sighed, was she telling the truth, or was Gia trying to protect her sister?
JOYCE-
"Nothing in the database about invisible demons."
DAWN-
"Whatever it was. Willow was touching it, so that rules out The First. Could it be..." Dawn pauses to look over at Gia, who already knew what she was going to say.
GIA-
"You think mum is crazy."
DAWN-
"We can't rule that out. It's possible that whatever she is feeling, seeing, or hearing...it could be in her head."
SPIKE-
"So....what do we do?"
BUFFY-
"Maybe we should do nothing."
DAWN-
"Buffy...."
BUFFY-
"No...she started this. I don't care if it's in her head, or not."
GILES-
"Well....I think that's it for now. Buffy, can I talk to you alone." Everyone leaves the room, while Giles and Buffy stare at each other.
BUFFY-
"So, say it....you know you what to."
GILES-
"You and Willow have been best friends for 25 years, and now you're willing to give that up due to an argument five years ago?"
BUFFY-
"Giles, she attacked me first....just because I took Gia in after Kennedy and Maple were gone. I mean you remember that night, right after the funeral." Buffy remembers that night clearly, finding Willow naked in the bathtub with both wrists cut. She almost died that night.
GILES-
"I remember. Willow was hurting, and she lashed out at everyone. You have been the only one not to forgive her for that. In fact, you furthered the argument by cutting ties with her. Whatever she's going through....she needs us."
