“Buffy,” Spike said, looking at her.
“What?” Buffy asked.
“Ow,” Spike said.
“Ow?” Buffy asked, confused.
“Ow, ow, ow, ow,” Spike said, as he began to scream.
“Spike, what is going on?” Buffy asked, trying not to panic.
“The chip… why would,” Spike said before he began convulsing and screaming.
Buffy moved closer, careful of his flailing arms. “Spike!” She yelled, trying to get his attention. She unlocked the shackles and sat in his lap. Spike pulled his hands away form his head. “Hey. Shhh, come on,” she said gently.
Spike stopped screaming but with great effort. “It hurts Buffy,” he whimpered.
Buffy pulled his head to her shoulder and rubbed his back. “It’ll be okay,” she whispered. “I promise.”
She laid her self down and Spike curled up in her arms. His cheek was over her heart and it lulled him to sleep.
