`Fred, Connor, Dawn, Giles, Joyce, and Wesley are coming soon'
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Buffy heard the knock on the door about five o'clock.
"Merry Christmas, Buffy." a tall man with dark brown hair and puppy dog brown eyes said as he stood in the doorway.
"Merry Christmas, Angel. Good to see you again." Buffy said hugging Angel. After everybody said their hellos they settled in the living room.
"Where's Spike?" Angel asked looking around.
"Upstairs. I'm afraid he's sick. Came down with something last night." Buffy said.
"Guess I'll go and see him. He'd hate me forever if I didn't go up." Angel said as he got up from the couch and headed up stairs.
"Hello, Little Brother, you know it's not nice to fake sick when family's over." Angel said as he headed over to the bed and punched Spike lightly on the arm.
"Angel, what are you doing here? I know that this thing with Buffy and having kids will won't last to long. I'll probably wake up in a couple hours but do you really have to ruin this dream?" Spike said a little angrily.
"Will, what's gotten into you? I know you're sick but you don't have to jump down my throat." Angel said a little taken back.
"Quick question. What is it with me being sick and nobody being worried? I mean Faith poisons you and just about everybody freaks out and is doing everything in their power to find you a cure but me I get sick nobody seems to care." Spike said still angry.
"Who in the world is Faith? Will, what's going on with you? I think you're delusional." Angel said looking a little worriedly.
"This is real isn't it? It's not some dream. Isn't this just bloody great. Next you're going to tell me that Giles is my dad and my mum's dead." Spike said half jokingly and then noticed the look on Angel's face.
"You got to be bloody kidding me. This is bloody great. First my mum dies in the 1880s, no thanks to me, and then my mum who I'm not sure I even know who she is here is dead. This is just bloody great." Spike said his voice had come down to almost a whisper and Angel could tell there were tears in his eyes but knew he wouldn't let them fall.
"Hey, it's ok. I miss her too." Angel said as he pulled him into a tight embrace. He suddenly pulled back taking Spike by surprise even though it wasn't as much a surprise as the fact that Angel wanted to hug him.
"I have an idea. How about I make some of that hot chocolate mom used to make, I think I remember the recipe." Angel said he started to stand up. Spike didn't say anything, but Angel knew he wanted it.
"Hey, how's you're brother doing?" Cordelia asked as she came into the kitchen where Angel had something on the stove.
"Sick and missing mom. I can't blame him about the missing part he was the closest to her and Christmas time was her favorite time of year. This being the first Christmas without her I suppose he's taking it hard." Angel said as he stirred the pot.
"Hot Chocolate?" Cordelia asked, eyeing the pot.
"Yeah. Thought it would cheer him up. Mom used to make it for us whenever we were sick, sad, or just during the holidays." Angel said pouring the brown liquid into two mugs.
"You're a good brother, Liam." Cordelia said as she walked over to Angel and gave him a kiss on the lips.
"Thanks. Now I better get this upstairs. I love you, Cordy." Angel said as he left the kitchen leaving behind a smiling Cordelia.
Angel came into the bedroom to find Spike lying on his back staring at the ceiling. Spike had a blank look on his face and this concerned Angel.
"Will, are you ok?" Angel asked coming over to the bed.
"Ever realize that us vampires never really get the girl we love." Spike said kind of confusing Angel.
"What are talking about, little brother?" Angel asked.
"Where I come from you and I both love the same girl, we even fight over her, but neither of us gets her for good. Here though I'm with that girl and you're with Cordelia who I remember in my place annoys Buffy to all get out, but she also has special powers that help you out a lot. I think she died though. I even died for my girl and to save the world but also so she would love me. Turned out I died and then you brought me back where I was basically a ghost and even almost ended up in hell." Spike said not taking his eyes off the ceiling. Spike suddenly felt a semi warm hand on his forehead.
"Will, you're burning up. I'm going to go get Buffy." Angel said getting up; leaving both mugs on the table that was next to the bed.
"Don't think she'll come. She has all that stuff going on in Rome. I know she said she loved me, but I know that was just to make me feel better. She's probably moved on by now, thinking I'm dead. Gosh, I'm such a bloody whelp. I have all those resources; I should just look up where she is although I'll probably never see her. Couldn't handle being shot down by her." Spike said knowing that tears were slowly coming out of his eyes but he didn't care. He just didn't care anymore.
"I'm getting Buffy." Angel said although Spike didn't hear him. Angel left him lying there crying and he wasn't even sure how to comfort him.
"Buffy, could I see you in the kitchen please." Angel said from the entrance of the living room door.
"What is it, Angel? Is everything alright?" Buffy asked concerned when she saw the look of worry on Angel's face.
"I'm not sure, I go up with the hot chocolate and find Spike staring at the ceiling with a blank look on his face and then he goes on about you being in Rome, he having died, being a ghost, and even said that we were vampires, oh also said that you didn't love him. It was weird, of course he did feel pretty hot so he was probably delusional, but I think you should you go upstairs with him." Angel said looking at Buffy, although he couldn't tell what she was feeling, he knew she didn't like what she just heard.
"Alright." Was Buffy's only answer before turning to leave the kitchen and go upstairs.
"Hey, Will, are you ok? Angel said you weren't feeling real hot, well metamorphicly speaking, since it sounds like you're running a bit of a fever a little higher than this morning." Buffy said coming to sit down on the bed.
"Buffy, is that really you? Is it you, luv?" Spike asked in almost a whisper as he sat up slowly and looked at Buffy.
"Honey, of course it's me. Gosh, Angel wasn't kidding when he said you were pretty hot, you're burning up." Buffy said feeling Spike's face.
"It is you. The same caring girl I knew." Spike said as he reached over and hugged Buffy. Buffy hugged him and when she did she could feel Spike's body shaking in sobs and the heat radiating from his body.
"Hey, it'll be alright. I'm here; you'll be fine. I want you to try and get some sleep, honey. I'll lay with you, but you have to sleep." Buffy said and Spike laid down with Buffy at his side. He fell asleep quickly, which was probably due to the fever.
