When Buffy got out of class she decided to go to Giles’ house to look up the demon in her dream. She got to Giles’ and knocked on the door. After about 20 seconds Giles came to the door with a book in his hand as always.
“Oh, hello Buffy, what are you doing here?” Giles asked with wonder.
“Hey Giles, nice to see you too, I’m fine thanks for asking,” Buffy said with sarcasm.
“Oh, right, sorry, please come in.” Giles opened the door wider and moved aside to let Buffy in.
Buffy walked into Giles’ stuffy house. As soon as she walked in she heard Spike yelling from the bathroom, “Hey…where’s my blood, library boy? I’m sodding hungry.”
“I see Spike is being a gentleman as usual,” she looked into the hallway and yelled, “Shut up Spike, you’ll get blood when we feel like giving it to you.”
Spike yelled back, “Oh great…the slayers here, bloody brilliant.”
Buffy and Giles yell in unison, “Shut up Spike!”
“You know, I don’t know why we can’t just stake him, and why does he have to stay with me anyway?” Giles wined.
Buffy looked at him disappointed and annoyed, “Hi, six year old version of Giles, can we get back to why I’m hear, it’s important.”
“Oh, yes, what is it that you needed?” Giles asked as he cleaned his glasses with a white handkerchief.
“I need to look up a demon by the name of…Morah, I think it was.”
Giles looked slightly confused. Buffy usually came to him trying to figure out the name of a demon she had just fought. She would usually give him a description of the demon and they would look it up to find it's name and some more information about it. He couldn’t remember a time when she actually knew the name of the demon when she had her first interaction with it. “Right…should be in this book here,” Giles walked to his shelf and took out the book they needed and placed it on the table.
They flipped to the page with the Morah demon and started reading. Giles hesitantly spoke up, “Buffy where you attacked by one of these Morah demons?”
Buffy knew that Giles probably wouldn’t believe her if she said that she had a dream she thought was real so she did the only other thing she could think of…she lied, “Yeah, the other night one attacked me while I was on patrol.”
Giles still wasn’t convinced, “Yes, right, how did you know what it was then?”
Buffy was hopping to avoid this question. She thought very hard for an excuse. Finally she decided to just go for half the truth, “well, remember when I told you I got attacked with Angel when I was in LA?”
“Yes…oh I see…he told you what it was and so you recognized it then?” Giles said, actually believing that was all there was to it.
Buffy, knowing he bought it, said, “Yup…that’s exactly what happened.”
As they read on they found out that the Morah demon’s blood had regenerative powers and that it could only be killed by smashing its thousand eyes. Giles didn't know what that meant...but Buffy remembered it from her dream. She also remembered that when the demon attacked her and Angel in LA, Angel killed it by smashing the gem on its head. She assumed that was its thousand eyes.
“So when it says regenerative…it just means that he…or…it I guess, can regenerate itself when it’s been injured?” Buffy asked knowing in her heart that there was more to it.
“Well yes…in a way. I believe there may actually be more to it.” Giles said still staring at the text in the book.
Buffy looked at him curiously, “What do you mean?”
“The Morah’s blood,” Giles started, “from what I’ve gathered, appears to be very powerful. It almost seems as if…” Giles trailed off as if even he was unsure of what he was about to say.
“As if what?” Buffy said, anxious to hear what he was trying to say.
Giles looked puzzled for a second and then finally continued, “It’s almost as if this demon’s blood not only regenerates but gives life. It regenerates itself but it also seems that its blood could also regenerate anyone or anything else that its blood would mix with.”
As Giles said this, Buffy knew what it meant. She now, more then ever believed that her dream was real. She could feel it in her heart. The dream was real, it really happened, and she knew it.
“I need to go,” Buffy said with a confused look on her face.
Giles looked even more confused then she was, “What? Wait where are you going, I don’t understand.”
Buffy looked at him with the kind of look a young girl gives to her father, “Don’t worry, I’ll explain everything when I figure out what’s going on myself I promise.”
Giles just looked at her, very confused, but he knew whatever it was she needed to do, she needed to do it alone. She walked out the door with a determined look on her face.
Buffy now knew that her dream was real. Even though she only had a small amount of evidence she could just feel that it was real. She was on her way to LA, she wanted answers and she was going to find them…no matter what.
* * * *
As Buffy walked to the bus station she began to get enraged. All these thoughts kept going through her head over and over again. ‘How could he not tell me?’ ‘Why would he go back to the way things were if we were so happy?’ ‘Why couldn’t he just deal with being human and leave the fighting to me?’
She was so enraged and confused that she didn’t even notice Xander walk right past her when she was leaving Giles’. “Buffy?” Xander said to himself as he saw her walk right past him as if he wasn’t even there. He ran up to her to catch up and find out what her deal was. “Hey Buff,” he said as he reached her. She still didn’t answer. “Earth to Buffy,” he tried again as he waved his hand in front of her face.
Finally she noticed and stopped walking. “Xander,” she said looking very confused, “Where did you come from?”
Xander laughed a little, “You’re kidding right?” he asked, his face turning more serious now. She just gave him a look as if he was the crazy one. “You just passed me over there,” he said as he pointed to the place they passed by each other, “I said hi to you but you acted as if I wasn’t even there. What’s going on?”
“I’m so sorry Xander,” Buffy said as she rubbed her head in frustration, “I just…I have a lot on my mind right now. I need to go.”
She started to walk away but Xander caught her arm before she could, “Wait,” she said looking very confused, “Is everything ok? I don’t understand.”
Buffy forced a smile. She could tell he was worried about her. “Everything is fine, I just…I need to go figure something out and until I do I’m going to be no fun Buffy so that’s why I need to go now,” she explained. “I hate being no fun Buffy. She’s just no fun.”
Xander smiled but he was still worried. He wanted to ask more questions but he could tell that wouldn’t be a good idea. He could see that he just needed to let it go for now. “Ok,” he gave in, “but if you need anything…”
“I know,” Buffy said before he could finish, “Thanks Xand, I’ll see you soon. I won’t be gone long. Tell Willow for me.”
“Sure,” Xander said as Buffy started walking away, “Wait where are you going though? Last question I ask I promise.”
Buffy turned for a moment with a determined face, “LA,” she answered and then continued her walk to the bus station before Xander could say a word. She knew that he would know this had something to do with Angel if she was going to LA and she just didn’t have the time to explain. She wanted answers and she wanted them now.
