LOS ANGELES - 1996
Joss slams open the door at the WB corporate offices and storms outside onto the street, with Doug and Gail behind him.
GAIL-
"Joss, wait, it's not the end of the world."
JOSS-
"No, just the end of my producting career. I mean '7th Heaven' was picked up and not us. This is bullshit."
Soon, the TV shows re-runed and picked up would be starting film, and right now, Buffy will not be one of them. After getting home, Joss stared at his computer screen with all the information about the show on it. They had hired excellent actors, writters, and production staff, and the network went for a cheesy family drama. Kai and Spike walked up to Joss. She hugs him, and the dog rested his head on Joss's lap.
KAI-
"I'm so sorry."
JOSS-
"I had such a good feeling about this show."
SIX MONTHS LATER....
BUFFY (phone) -
"Mr. Whedon, Ms.Berman on the phone for you."
JOSS-
"Thank you....Gail, hi! Slow down, what's going on?"
GAIL-
"Joss, the WB just cancelled one of their shows, and they need a mid-season replacement. They chose Buffy."
JOSS-
"You mean....they picked up Buffy?"
Joss jumps up and down and his boss Mr. Harris enters.
HARRIS-
"Whedon! Sit down! You're supposed to have that script on my desk yesterday. Now get back to work, you little worm!"
JOSS-
"Mr. Harris....screw you, I quit."
Joss leaves and gets a hi-five from Buffy.
