"That's what I hate about being possessed, you have no control over your actions." She quipped bashfully, stepping back.
"That was a little too much like what happened with James and Grace." Xander said.
"How long have you all been like that?" Dylan asked, blushing also. "T-the whole thing?"
"The whole thing." Buffy nodded. Footsteps flying through the school halls diverted their attention to the doors as a tall, very angry looking young woman in a black business suit came through the door, followed by a man on crutches. Angel barely had time to get his human face on when the woman breezed by him.
"Dylan Devons-Meurtreir the 5th, how dare you do that to me!" she raged at Dylan.
"Mom, I'm sorry, I-"
"Sorry won't cut it young man, your mother and I missed a very important business meeting back in Miami after you put on that little display this afternoon. I want you to apologize to your mother, you're grounded. Now get your ass into that car." His father barked. Dylan rolled his eyes, looked to the Scooby Gang, smiled shortly and walked out. Mr. and Mrs. Devons-Meurtreir apologized sincerely for their son, embarrassed because of him and followed him out.
"What happened?" Giles asked Willow. "To the other Dylan and Angèlique, I mean?" "I don't know. I just felt something go through me, they talked and…" Willow could bring herself to admit that she'd kissed another boy after what had happened with her, Xander, Oz and Cordelia recently.
"We know what you mean Will. You don't have to say." Buffy said. "I'd say after today, we deserve a night of Bronzing. Or if you guys don't want to, fine."
"I think I'll just stay home tonight. I don't want to…be seen." Xander said, walking out the door.
"I'll go Buffy. I just might feel a little insecure, Oz is playing tonight, so I'll be in the washroom most of the night." Willow offered.
"A night of bathroom chat, I'm up. I'll see you later Giles." The Slayer bid goodbye. She stopped to avoid running into Angel, walked around him and left.
The two older men stayed quiet, not quite knowing what to say since they hadn't seen each other since the previous year.
"I know I don't deserve to live. I don't deserve any of the friendship you and the others have given to me, or Buffy herself." Angel started. "And I don't deserve the respect I've gotten tonight after what I did last year." He stopped before saying, "I'm sorry. For everything I've done to you and to the others."
Giles stood, just watching him. "I do admire your bravery, but what you did to me not only physically, but emotionally, is not forgivable. I would appreciate it very much if you stayed away from me and my Slayer and allow us to work privately. If you do come around me, I may not be responsible for what I may do." He swallowed heavily, shoved the remaining Watcher's Diary into the box and carted it away, leaving Angel by himself. The vampire watched after him, turned quietly and walked out the door, fighting back water that had sprung up by the sting in the watcher's voice. Just like what had happened when Buffy confronted him the day after Spike had left.
