Okay. . . we've all heard this before: These are not my characters. They belong to the High and Mighty Joss Whedon, may a religion be made to worship him someday(j/k), the WB Network, Mutant Enemy Productions, etc, etc. These wonderful people are responsible for the best show on TV, and I only claim rights to Jessie and Fredrick. If you want to use MY people, please ask. Alright?
Note: This story was written back in August, so I(and probably noone else who works for the show) hadn't seen, nor had I really read the spoilers, for Season 3. Any resemblance is purely couinsidental to the 3rd season. This takes place in the future(Next February). Angel just got out of hell(Don't know how, don't know why. It just works that way), Spike and Drusilla are back also, and the Slayer's about to meet her new comrad in slaying. . .
Feedback/Distrubution of the story: Please! I'd love to hear from you guys, and I'd even like it more if you spread it around. Just ask, PLEASE, if you're gonna post it somewhere else!!! Oh yeah. . . and this is my first attempt at fan-fiction(or was), so be kind with the feedback. No flames, though!!!
Second Note: Words in * * are thoughts. Kay?
Prologue
It was a cold February night. Even along the deserted highways of central California, frost layed on the grass over lapping the painted pavement. A bus pulled up to a gas station were the driver stopped to get a coffee from the small bar. After he came back out, he saw a girl, around her early teens, inspecting the front of the bus, two large bags sitting on the ground behind her.
"Can I help you, miss?" the old man asked, stumbling towards her with a coffee cup in his hand.
"Uh. . . yeah. Where does this bus go?" she replied inquiringly, her voice holding a canadian accent.
"Sunnydale, oh. . . say. . . 1-2 hours away. "
"Okay. Great!" she smiled, stuffing her bags into the opened luggage compartment, handing him her ticket and stepping on board. In the light of the large vehicle, the driver could see she had shoulder-length, thing dark blonde hair tucked underneath a black wool winter cap. Her jacket was a black ski jacket with a purple and lime green strip across the front. She was wearing a dirty, dark pair of jeans and shoes that looked like they'd been purchased long ago.
The girl walked down the aisle and sat down in one of the plush seats on the left side, across from someone. She looked at the person closely: Male, around 20, dark hair and wearing a leather jacket. He had his head down and his arms around his neck, as if protecting it. On his left hand, she saw a small silver ring, with a heart surrounded by hands and a crown. He suddenly looked up, sensing someone. Their eyes made contact for a second, her blue and his brown, then she pulled away.
*Oh man. . . Cutey at 4:00. . . * she thought as the driver stepped back on board and started the bus again. Then they were off, back on the highway headed south. A few minutes past before the old man spoke up.
"So. . . Why ya headed to Sunnydale, little lady?"
"I. . . have family there. " the girl replied unsuringly.
The driver chuckled softly through his thick white beard, then told her, "Ya know, it's said to be inhabited by vampires!"
"There's no suck thing as vampires!" the girl shot back.
"You have no idea. . . " the young man to her right whispered, barely audible.
"Huh?" But the man didn't reply. He just looked out the window at the darkened scenery, silence gripping his tonuge again. He appeared, from the girl's angle, to be troubled in somesort of way. She then deverted her attention to the nearing sign through his window.
As the bus spend into the night towards it's destination, the sign flew past, reading:
