"Oh man! I gotta see if I can be a witch!" Xander proclaimed, shovelling his sixth slice of the pizza Sabrina had conjured for her and her friends. But they hadn't gotten any slices.
"Hey,why not saving some for the others, more in particular, the cat?" Salem asked. Xander shook his head and turned back to his half finished slice.
"Oh dear.Is he always like this?" Zelda asked, turning to the 3 other teens and the vampire.
"Unfortunately, yes. You just have to get used to him." Oz explained.
"So...now.Buffy is a slayer.And she kills vampires."
"Usually what a slayer does." Buffy quipped, stealing a small slice while Xander wasn't looking.
"Right. And Angel's a vampire.Don't you have to kill him?" Hilda asked.
"No.Dead-Boy's got a soul." the Gorge-o-Matic replied, shoving the rest of his crust into his mouth.
"Oh.Okay.I think..." their conversation was interrupted by the phone ringing.
"Yes? Hello,Mr.Giles." Zelda greeted the person on the other line."Yes she's here.Hold on for a second..." the witch turned to Buffy and handed her the phone,"It's for you."
"Yeah? Nothing much Giles, why? That's a first.Alright.We'll be right there.Bye." Buffy handed back the phone, which was hung up."Come on guys.Let's go.Research modes.Sabrina, you coming?" the Slayer told her gang, grabbing her coat.
"Sure" the half-mortal replied, taking her coat and waving bye.
"Nice meeting you!" Zelda called as her niece and the others exited.
"You too,Miss Spellman!" Willow called back.A silence hung through the house as the two witches sorted their new-found information through their heads.Looking at the pizza box,Salem proclaimed,"Look! Big Ears forgot a-" but the door opened again,Xander walked in,took the slice Salem was about to eat and left. The cat began sobbing, putting his head down in the empty pizza box."Ooh...Cheese!"

"Giles!" Buffy proclaimed, walking through the library doors.
"Yes? Oh,Buffy.Finally." the librarian smiled, ducking out of his office.
"So what's wrong? Demon...Some bad guy threatening to kill humanity...Barney's getting his own network?" Xander quipped, following the others in.
"Very funny. Not anything of significance...Well,actually it is.I've seem to have run into a strongly encrypted passage in the Codex and was wondering if Angel could help decipher it,or Willow use that...thing to...scan it into a translator programme." Giles told them.
"Sure,I just need to boot up." Willow replied cheerfully, sitting at the table.
"Codex?" Sabrina asked, puzzled at the slayer terminology.
"Basically,it's the Slayer's/Watcher's Big Book of Creepy and Up-and-coming Prophesies." Xande pointed out, making everyone groan at the intended joke.
"Oh."
"Now,let's see this 'undecipherable passage',Giles." Buffy told the librarian, walking into the office and retrieving a thickly bound leather book with yellowed pages and little page markers hanging out.
"This thing's thicker than my spell-book!" Sabrina proclaimed as Buffy sat the book down.
"Alrighty..." Willow trailed off, searching for the bookmarked page."Here we go.Oh...No translation program on earth could decrypt this..." the hacker informed, her eyes wide at the words in front of her.
"Here, let me try." Sabrina said.Giles nodded.
"If your magic could...help,by all means, please."
"Alright." Sabrina took a deep breath, closed her eyes and pointed her finger at the Codex."Hey,this is Sabrina,I'm in Research Mode.Just help me crack this Latin Code." The familiar gold and purple energy surrounded the book and it shuddered. But nothing happened to the wording."What? Help me crack this Latin Code!" Still nothing.
"What's wrong? Is your finger broken?" Xander asked.
"Wait.I'll try conjuring.Uh..." Sabrina pointed to the table beside the book, and in a puff of smoke,a sleeping Salem appeared.
"I don't wanna go back, mommy. The warlocks pull my tail and the sorceressess giggle at me..." The cat begging sleepily. The humans couldn't help but laugh slightly, even Angel stiffled a giggle."Huh? This isn't our house."
"Well,we know my finger works." Sabrina said.
"Good for it.Can I go home now? I'm on your Valentine's from last year." Salem said, standing up.
"What? You've been reading my diary again?"
"Yes and no.I skipped the part where turned Harvey into a frog.Too mushy..."
"Oh you stupid little furball!" Sabrina pointed angrily at the cat and he disappeared.
"Where'd you send him?" Willow asked, seeing a few of Salem's stray hairs on the table.
"I really have no idea.Oh,why won't my magic work on this?! I know..." Sabrina pushed the others away, making a little bit of room between the table and them, and held her hands to her mouth. "Quizmaster!"
In a clap of thunder and inverted light,a tall black man in swimtrunks and sandles appeared.
"I am on vacation you know." He told the witch.
"Sorry. We've got a problem." Sabrina waved to the Codex as he jumped off the table and landed beside Buffy.
"Ooh.The Codex.Slayer book of Prophecy.Must have a good watcher and a good Slayer to get this far..."
"Swimtrunks Man,we know about the book. Can you tell us why her magic won't work on it?" Xander asked, producing a Twinkie from his pocket and biting into it.
"Be careful,or you just might choke on that." the Quizmaster warned.
"Xander choke on a Twinkie? Hasn't happened." Buffy said, becoming impatient. The Quizmaster pointed and Xander started coughing up pastry.
"Now.I know why you can't decode this. The Codex is a sacred text for reasons of secrecy. If this falls into the wrong hands,"The Quizmaster whistled and made a gesture with his hands,"bye-bye World. That's why it won't work. The Codex is protected by Magik cast by the Watcher's Council long ago."
"And you know about this how?"
"Please Sabrina, you don't spend a thousand years doing nothing but playing Air Hockey.I brushed up on my ancient studies. All sorcerers have to know about vampires and the slayer."
"Oh.So,I can't use magic to decode it?"
"Nope. Now if you'll excuse me-" The Quizmaster snapped his fingers and disappeared in smoke, thunder and light again. The smoke lifted in silence as Giles tiredly rubbed his nose and started to walk away, when the Quizmaster reappeared.
"Sabrina. Two things. One,I found your Furball." The Quizmaster pointed, and Salem wearing a cat-sized hawiian shirt and sipping out of a cocktail glass appeared.
"That's Mr.Furball to you,Mr.I-Get-All-The-Ladies-And-The-Cat-Only-Gets-The-Barkeeper."Salem retorted,taking a sip of his drink.
"And 2,your last test is coming up,so *be* ready!" With that, the Quizmaster disappeared again.
"Oh great! I'm about to get my Witch's License but I haven't figured out the family secret yet and we have to crack this!" Sabrina sulked, sitting in the chair facing Salem.
"As I thought..." Giles sighed. Then he turned to the vampire to his right,"Care to give it a crack,Angel?"
"Sure.Get me a few pieces of paper and give me a couple hours,plus...The Journals of... Othensious. That's where I've seen these characters before." Angel replied, straightening up and taking the Codex.
The necessary items were gotten, and before ten minutes, everyone was doing their own thing: Sabrina was teaching the slayerettes some of her spells(Turning Xander and Oz into a turtle and the latter into a Tabby),Giles and Buffy were holding a training session with the swords, and...Angel was working his butt off trying to read the books and figure out why it was so hard to read.

It was 4 in the morning before Angel actually found something that made sense. He tip-toed around the five sleeping teenagers and quietly into the semi-dimly lit office. There,Giles was hunched over his desk,a copy of the Watchers Diaries,in which he had been writing, serving as a pillow. There was a long pen line across the page to where his pen rested, beside the watcher's head.It Giles' left-hand,he loosely held a cold cup of tea, which he'd probably been drinking to stay awake.
"Giles?" Angel softly asked. He only groaned softly and turned to face the tea-cup. Angel asked slightly louder, only to get the answer "Leave me alone,Dad.I don't care, I don't want to be a watcher. They're ninnies..." The vampire, out of frustration, tapped Giles over the shoulder. He awoke with a jolt to find not his father, but a young man hovering over him.
"Oh,Angel.Terribly sorry.I must have...dosed off.What's wrong?"
"I'm...done with the pages.I've got to get home,it'll soon be morning." Angel replied, gesturing to the slightly lighter shade of black sky out the window.
"Yes,thank you for your help tonight.I'll tell Buffy you left,and...We'll see you later, then." With that,Angel disappeared into the darkened library towards the front door and into the night.Giles stared after him, then turned to the pages of neatly written out words in the vampire's hand writing. After reading the first page, Giles' eyes grew wide behind the wire-rimmed glasses."Oh dear."
