An hour after sunset Angel came into the library. He had already fed, thanks to the Sunnydale blood bank. Giles and Willow sat at a table pouring over books while Buffy paced back and forth passed the windows. She stopped, sensing his presence, and turned to face him. "Angel!" she said, relieved, rushing into his arms.
"Hey." He said kissing her forehead gently. Giles stood and looked at Angel.
"Hello, Angel. It's...good....that you're here. Buffy was about to wear a whole in the floor. Perhaps you could accompany her on patrol tonight?" The words were difficult for him but he felt that forgiveness was the best path. Buffy was right. This was not the creature responsible for Jenny's death. This Angel would rather die than hurt Buffy. With all the pain in the last few months, something good must come. Angel and Buffy's love was a magical thing to witness.
"Of course." Angel said, glad that somehow Buffy had gotten Giles to accept him again. "I brought something for you Giles." He removed a small book from his pocket.
Giles glanced at the hand-written journal. The inscription on the inside read "Fleet Lightoller" Giles was astonished. "Fleet Lightoller's journal?" He looked almost giddy as he began thumbing through the pages. "This is wonderful, thank you, Angel."
"Who is this Fleet guy?" Buffy asked Giles.
"He was the watcher of one of the slayers that Spike killed. Her name was Marilyn, I believe." Giles handed the bookto Willow who began to scan the pages looking or something.
"Marianne." Angel said softly.
"And this is his journal?" Buffy said, amazed.
"I was with Spike when he killed her. It was a long time ago. I stole the book. I didn't want future watchers and Slayers to have too miuch information on me."
"Ther's stuff in here about you?" Buffy grabbed for the book out of curiosity.
"No. It's about Angelus and Spike." Willow said handing the book back to Giles.
Angel hung his head. Remembering, "Spike raised every vamp in the city, we were in Paris then. Darla, Drusilla, Spike and I. This slayer was giving us no end of trouble. He sent every vamp he could against her. She was a good fighter. She killed a lot of them but even a slayer gets tired. Spike just watched, waited. Then when she was weak he moved in for the kill." Angel was sickened by the memories.
"So that's how we stop him." Buffy obviously had a plan brewing in her head.
"Yeah! How, Buffy?" Willow asked.
Buffy walked to the door. "I have a plan. Angel?"
"Coming." He followed her out the door.
"Be careful." Giles whispered
