Buffy opened the door to her room and walked in. She turned on the lights and went to the side of the room to retrieve a chair that Jonathan could sit on. She noticed that he was still standing in the doorway.
" Why are you standing at the door?" she asked, he eyesbrows cocked.
" I'm just waiting to be invited in."
Buffy gave him a questioning look. " You say you're human, but you belong to an order of demons and you can't come in unless you're invited. You're really making me wonder if I should trust you here, Jonathan."
He laughed and then stepped into her appartment, proving to her that he didn't need to be invited. " There are a bunch of formalities that I am supposed to follwo that are supposed to gain your trust. Funny thing is, the usually get the same reaction that you gave me. I end up being trusted less. I should probly bring that point up to the order, shouldn't I?"
" That might be a good thing. Here," she said pointing to the chair, " have a seat."
Jonathan waved his hand. " No, I think I'll just stand, thanks."
" Suit yourself." Buffy sat down on the bed and waited for Jonathan to start. When he didn't say anything she felt the need to prompt him. " So, what's so urgent that I need to get back to Sunnydale for?"
" Right!" He paused, taking a moment to gahter his thoughts. " You left alot unresolved back there, Buffy."
" That was sort of the point in leaving." She replied sarcastically.
" Running away from you problems, Buffy, doesn't make them go away. When ever you finally decide to come back they're going to be there, waiting for you."
" You can't be trying to convince me to go back just to resolve my issues!"
Jonathan frowned. He knew Buffy was a tought slayer. She had been hardened by her whole ordeal with Angel. But he had had no idea that she was this afraid of herself.
" No, Buffy. That's not the only reason. There is a demon coming to Sunnydale that your friends won't be able to fight without you."
" Oh goody! It's been a while since I've had any really good fights!" Buffy said, faking giddiness and joy. Jonathan gently shook his head. He wasn't sure if he was up to this.
" This isn't going to be an easy breeze job for you, Buffy. This vampire is different than anyone you've fought. She's more powerful than even the Master. And she knows you. She knows your weaknesses and she knows how to use them against you. And she is very well versed in the magics. She has several advantages. You're unwillingness to face your problems being a major one. She will use it against you, Buffy. That's why it's so important that you face your problems. They won't help you any to keep them inside, because with Jasmine you can't hide anything."
Buffy sat motionless. She didn't know what to say to Jonathan. What he said about the vampire Jasmine scared her a little. She didn't like fighting an enemy who knew how to get to her. That was part of the problem she had had with Angelus. The thing that bothered her most about Jasmine though, was that she knew that Jasmine would use Angel against her. And she didn't like that at all.
" Why is Jasmine coming to Sunnydale?" Buffy questioned.
" Part of her pull to Sunnydale is just the extra evil vibes coming from the hellmouth. But most of it is because of you. She hates all slayers, and makes it her job to make your live miserable. She has never killed a slayer though. She only desires to torture, make you weak so that whatever demon follows her will defeat you. She's gone after every slayer, Buffy." He paused, searching her face for any sense of emotion. " No slayer has ever survived the battle after her."
Buffy got up and walked over to the window. She didn't want to go back to Sunnydale. She wasn't ready. She hadn't had enough time to figure things out. But she knew that she couldn't let Jasmine go to unprotected Sunnydale. Not when people she loved lived there.
" Okay. I guess I have to go back."
Jonathan breathed a sigh of relief. He knew that Buffy wouldn't let her friends suffer because she had unresolved issues. He felt bad for her though. This was going to be her hardest test yet. And to be truthful, he wasn't sure if she could handle it.
He walked over to Buffy and put comforting hand on her shoulder. " We need to leave as soon as possible."
She turned to him. She concentrated on his face. *They had to send someone who looked just like Angel, didn't they?*
Sensing her thoughts; " They thought it would make it easier on you, having someone who looked like him fighting on your side." He smiled shyly.
She chuckled to herself. " I guess I can see the sort of twisted logic in that."
" You need me to help you pack?"
" She walked over to her closet and started to pull things out and lay them on her bed. " Yeah. That would be great."
