Part Thirteen
From across the dance floor Willow, Cordelia, and Drusilla watched with hawk eyes at the actions of both couples.
Willow stood on tiptoe to try to see over the other couples dancing trying to get a better view. She finally gave up and huffed in disappointment.
“I hate being short you can never seen anything good, especially when it’s happening on the other side of the room. Can you guys see anything?”
Cordelia and Drusilla just stared at Willow till Cordelia finally asked, “Will, how tall are you exactly?”
Willow looked sheepishly at the ground, “About 5’6”.”
“Right and how tall is Drusilla?”
“Dru is 5’7” same as you.”
Cordy nodded, “So if the two of us are only an inch taller then you how can we see anything other then what you’re seeing now?”
Dru tilted her head, “I think that actually made some kinda sense Cordy.”
“What! I can’t make sense sometimes?”
Will and Dru looked at each other and back at Cordy, “No.”
“No what?” asked Xander as the guys walked up to the girls carrying drinks.
Cordy whirled around to face Xander behind her, “Am I not allowed to make sense?”
Xander stopped with a look of fear on his face, “Sense? Like as in smart sense?”
Cordelia moved closer to Xander and glared, “Are you saying that I am not smart Alexander Harris?”
“We’re…um…we’re going to go dance,” stuttered Willow taking Oz’s hand and leading him to the dance floor.
Spike pointed to the dance floor with his drink still in his hand, “Dru and I are going to follow the red and green heads. You’re on your own Harris.”
Xander looked on in fear as two of his best friends left him to Cordy’s wrath.
“I am asking you again Alexander, am I not a smart person?”
Xander breathed deep, let it out slowly, and led Cordelia over to the couches, “Sweetie, sometimes you seem to be all cheerleader, ya know? All beauty and no brains, but there are sometimes when you let that fake persona drop and you are just Cordelia Chase. The happy high school girl that only I seem to see and that you don’t let anyone else see. That’s when you make perfect sense and I guess it confuses people when you drop the cheerleader. If everyone else saw that you more often then maybe they would understand you better”
Cordelia just sat there staring at Xander, “So what you’re saying is that I should let the others see the me that you see they’d understand me better?”
Xander nodded and took a sip of his drink. He just watched as Cordelia slowly thought over everything that he had said.
Cordy nodded, “I get what you’re saying but I like that only you get to see the real me so I guess that means everyone will have to deal with the cheerleader.”
Cordy looked up at the girl that walked by her and Xander and jumped out of her seat, “Excuse me!! Who do you think are? Do you think that you can make eyes at MY boyfriend?!” Cordy started after the poor girl, “Hey!! I’m talking to you! DO NOT IGNORE ME!!!!”
The gang walked up behind Xander and Faith put her hand on his shoulder.
“Same old Cordelia huh?”
Xander nodded, “Same old Cordy.”
