"What's the matter, puppy? Did you lose your bark?" I taunted, reveling in the new-found feeling of power.
Hope rushed into the kitched, a bruised and battered Buffy behind her.
I stood up and smiled wickedly at Buffy. "Wanna play?"
"Kyra!" Hope reprimanded, aghast. "What's wrong with you?"
"What's the matter?" I asked, tilting my head. "Don't you like my new look?"
"I think it's worth a few thousand screams myself," Buffy retorted, whipping out a stake.
"Stop it," Hope shouted at her. "You've done enough."
"Me? What did I do?"
Hope just stared at her. Buffy flushed and lowered her eyes.
"Who cares?" I laughed. "Argue about this all you want. I'm going hunting."
"The hell you are," growled Hope.
I raised an eyebrow. "You're going to stop me? Please! Why don't you come with me? We'd be a perfect team."
She recoiled in digust. "I'd never hunt for pleasure. And you *know* I stopped killing humans centuries ago.
"Suit yourself," I shrugged and headed towards the living room.
Hope grabbed my arm and pulled me back. "You're not going anywhere."
I hissed and scratched her cheek. A razor-thin line appeared on her cheek, blood oozing out. A few seconds later, the wound closed and disappeared. "Out of my way."
Hope's brown eyes turned golden as she bared her sharpening fangs. "Didn't you hear me? I said you're not going anywhere!"
She lunged at me, knocking me down. She pinned me on the floor, her hands pressing hard against my shoulders. Try as I did, I could not break free.
Buffy kneeled down beside me, the stake still in hand. "It's my mistake. I'll fix it."
"You will not," Hope spat. "Kyra is my friend. If she is to be killed, then I will do it."
Buffy nodded in understanding. "But you're using all of your strength to hold her down. Let me do it. It is my calling, after all."
"You can't kill me, I'm Immortal!" I protested, struggling vainly.
"You think I won't make your death permanent?" Hope asked quietly.
"You won't kill me, I'm your oldest friend."
She closed her eyes briefly then pressed harder on my shoulder with her left hand. She grabbed the stake from Buffy with her other hand. "I'm so sorry, old friend," She whispered and raised the stake.
"Wait," Angel spoke for the first time. "There is an another alternative."
