“Two roads diverged in a wood, and I- I took the one less traveled by, and that has made all the difference,” Ms. Lewis said quietly, closing her eyes and savoring the last line of the poem. The Sunnydale High A.P. English class looked at her with amusement.
“What does this poem even mean?” Harmony Kendall, a busty “dumb blond”, asked, popping her gum loudly. Buffy Summers cringed. No one knew how Harmony had gotten into A.P. English, she had the lowest GPA in the whole senior class.
“It means...” Buffy immediately tuned Ms. Lewis out and glanced at the lock. 2:38. Only two minutes to freedom. Two blessed weeks of Christmas Break. Buffy then looked at her two best friends, Cordelia and Willow, and noticed that they had done the same thing. The whole class was watching the clock, ticking away the minutes.
“Don’t forget, class, your homework for over break is a two page essay, no less than 1000 words, on how “Road Not Taken” relates to your life. Or how it doesn’t,” Ms. Lewis explained. The entire class groaned. Only Ms. Lewis would give homework over break. The bell rang and the entire class burst though the doors out onto the warm, sunny quad.
“Okay, guys, the cab will pick me up first at seven and then go to Buffy’s house for the two of you,” Cordelia reminded Buffy and Willow as they headed for their respective vehicles.
“Gotcha,” Buffy smiled, pulling large, round shades over her eyes.
“Ballpark time you’ll be over tonight?” She asked Willow as they stopped at their cars, Buffy in a black Pontiac Solstice and Willow in a white Ford Contour.
“Nine? I have a lot of packing left to do,” Willow laughed.
“Me too. Nine’s good, see you then.”

Buffy stood in front of her closet, desperate for something to pack. Most of her closet was strewn over her bed, discarded for one reason or another. She walked over to her dresser and picked out her two sexiest bikinis, tossing them in her suitcase.
“Honey?” her mother, Joyce, asked as she knocked lightly on the open door.
“What?” Buffy whined.
“Uncle Giles just called. He said that he’s really sorry but he’s going to have to send the boys to pick you girls up at the airport. His museum just got an artifact and he’s going to be at work until late Saturday night,” Joyce said, an soft smile on her face.
“That’s fine, mom,” Buffy sighed, rubbing her forehead. She had NOTHING to wear. The three girls, along with Cordelia’s and Willow’s boyfriends, were spending the break with her godfather and his new fiancé in New York. His new fiancé, Jenny, had two sons the same age as Buffy. She had never met them, but their pictures were hot.
Buffy’s phone rang and she answered it quickly, hoping it was someone cool to distract her from her lack of appropriate clothing.
“Hello?” Buffy asked.
“I am seriously stressed. Why can’t California girls ever buy any of the winter clothes they put out? I have nothing to pack!” Cordelia cried on the other end. Buffy sighed, relieved that she wasn’t the only one.
“I know what you mean, I don’t own one single winter item. Emergency shopping trip?” Buffy asked. Her and Cordelia had “emergency” debit cards from their parents with a substantial amount of money on them. It helped that they were very wealthy.
“Yes please,” Cordelia chirped.
“Meet you in front of Banana Republic in ten minutes?” Buffy asked.
“Speed, Buffy,” Cordelia laughed. Buffy put down the phone and grabbed her purse, dialing Willow on the way out.
“Hello?” Willow asked.
“Hey Will! Cordy and I are doing some emergency shopping, you in?” Buffy asked. She could hear Willow moving around her bedroom.
“Nope, I’m all set. I’ll just chill in your room if you’re not back yet when I get there, kay?” Willow said.
“Sure. See ya.”
Once at the mall, Buffy and Cordelia wasted no time. They quickly loaded up a few hundred dollars worth of winter clothing from Banana, Gap, and a few big name designers.
“I will not settle for looking like a hag on Christmas break with my boyfriend,” Cordelia sighed as they loaded bags into their cars.
“Cor, you would never look like a hag, especially to Xander,” Buffy assured her.
“I know, but still, one always has to look her best. See you bright and early,” she waved. Buffy sighed and drove home. Willow was already there when she got back, so they finished packing up Buffy’s stuff and then sat down with a movie and some Ben and Jerry’s.

“Rise and shine!” Buffy screamed, jumping on Willow’s air mattress the next morning. Buffy was showered and dressed, and the cab was due in twenty minutes.
“I’m up!” Willow moaned, pushing at Buffy’s feet. Willow never took long to get ready on days when they were traveling. She brushed her short red hair into a ponytail and pulled on a dark green sweater and some jeans.
The cab honked outside and Buffy and Willow rushed out, loading their bags into the trunk. The poor driver could barely get it shut with the six suitcases bulging out.
“Are you girls ready for the Christmas break we will never forget?” Cordelia asked as they piled into the back seat.
“Yes!” They cried.
