I've heard 'there is no such thing as writer's block' before. Here's what I think writer's block is:
If you're sitting there staring at a perfectly blank document, then you may not have any inspiration or ambition. But writer's block is when you have an idea but you can't force it out of your head and onto the page.
I have many ideas in my mind. I know exactly how I want to portray them. Then I open a document and stare at the cursor and I have the idea... but I can't put it into words. The idea is intangible. I can see the actions, but the words for it don't exist. That, to me, is writer's block.
Anything else is simply lack of inspiration. If you're opening a document and staring at a blank page waiting for an idea to strip naked and dance on your nose, then you're going about the wrong approach.
Witness things. Go out and look at objects and let your mind guide you to an idea.
Life is the greatest inspiration.
(Hahahahaha. That was lame.)
Good luck. ♥
This is a roundrobin story. Would you like to contribute?
