The cries of the night continued to howl silently, plunging the
eerie forest into even more of its everlasting eternal darkness.
Shadows flickered and swayed under the breeze eerily.
“Is this what you’ll become? A monster? Like *them*? Is this what you have decided to ever shall be forever?” Buffy whispered, shivering
under the cool breeze that caressed her cheek delicately like angel wings.
No words escaped from Angel’s sensuous lips.
His obsidian eyes that mingled with the surrounding darkness only
gaze up at the silver kissed glow of the moon shimmering above.
Stars twinkled brightly like white hot fire across the starry, night sky.
“Answer me,” Buffy ordered whispery.
Angel refused to obey her command.
Shadows flickered in front of his beautiful, predatory angelic face.
A low growl emancipated from him but he stubbornly refused to obey her at once.
He refused to chance a glance at her beautifully delicate features that shimmered in the night.
“Please. I do want to help you. I don’t want *them* to hurt you,” Buffy cried
softly, tiny wisps of cool breath mingling with the gentle cool breeze.
Leaves and branches crackled underneath her, breaking
the silence that loomed hauntingly in the bleak forest.
Only silence from the flickering shadows that stood before her responded.
“I’m not like you. I’m a predator. A hunter that lingers in the darkness,” Angel whispered
sadly, a tear pooling in his obsidian eyes for everything he had lost.
“Forever more I’ll always be the predator that lingers in the night.”
“You think you know what you are? What you’ll become? You haven’t even begun,” Buffy whispered quietly.
Those obsidian, predatory eyes that flickered dangerously under the
silver kissed glow glanced at her silently in the flickering darkness.
“It’s not the demon in me that needs killing. It’s the man. The force of Good that lingers inside my soul for eternity.”
“You have the power to do real good. To make amends for what you have caused. But if you let this thing take over you, then all you ever were was a monster.”
“Strong is fighting. It’s hard, it’s painful, and it’s everyday. It’s what we have to do. And we can do it together.
“But if you’re too much for a coward, then burn. If I can’t convince you that you’re Good, then I don’t know what can. But don’t expect someone to mourn over you. Or to watch for you.”
“Am I a thing worth saving? Am I a righteous man? As long as my only brother is gone, I can‘t feel any kind of love! Love is only for the weak and stupid!” Angel snarled.
“What about me?” Buffy whispered sadly, tears trickling down her cheeks that shimmered in the white light glimmered from above.
“What about me? I love you so much…I always had since the first day I met you. And I tried so hard not to think about you but the more I did that, the more I fell in love with you.”
“And I hate it! I know that things you had just done because I could the pain, the loss, and the sadness
glowing like white hot fire inside my soul. I could feel my pain and my love for you growing each second that passes by.”
“This isn’t some fairy tale. When I kiss you, you don’t wake up from a deep sleep and live happily ever after,” Angel’s
wispy, cool breath caresses Buffy’s cheeks softly, his obsidian eyes gazing into hers dangerously.
“No. When you kiss me, I want to die,” Buffy whispers, eyes
brimming with glistening tears that fell like graceful drops of rain.
Desire, love, attraction, and lust swirled deliciously between
them, the fire and the passion glowing like warm embers of fire in the night.
Lips were inching closer, cool breaths mingling deliciously
together that caressed their faces as softly as a pair of dark angel wings.
His soft, cool breath tickled her cheeks delicately, and she couldn’t resist any longer.
Then she felt his warm, soft lips pressing passionately against hers.
The kiss became more passionate, filled with desire that swirled in temptation between their warm bodies.
The kisses stopped.
“I don’t want to do this. I don’t want to love,” Angel whispered against her flushed cheeks.
Airy mists swirled and billowed around the eerie forest that was the darkness.
A cloak of darkness billowed between them while shadows
flickered and swayed still under the silent breeze of the night.
“Angel, please. Don’t do this,” Buffy whispered.
He refused to chance a look at her once more.
Shadows flickered in and out of his angelic face that shimmered like a silver kissed halo.
Silence haunted in the dark of night.
Closing her eyes to the shadows that loomed before her, she felt his lips pressed against hers once more, but
this time it was filled with such longing and passion that it took her breath away.
*I’m so sorry. Please forgive me,* his soft, whispered words tickled
across her mind with sadness and longing mingling together.
Something truly amazing occurred in the mysterious cloak of night before them.
*I forgive you*, Buffy’s voice whispered back, tickling his dark mind that was filled with sadness and longing.
Deep inside her own soul that glowed embers of warm fire, she *recognized* him.
Her other part of her soul that belonged to the night. The one
person she was destined to love forever until her last breath.
Sparks of gold swirled deliciously around them, kissing their bodies with it’s soft gold shimmer, the silver
kissed glow of the moon above kissing them with its silver glittering glow, cascading them with warmth.
*What’s happening*? Buffy whispered in his mind.
*The Soulmate Principle*, Angel’s voice whispered and caressed softly like angel wings in her mind.
*The Night Ones believe it is an idea where there is just one person for you out there that you were destined to be with forever. Your one true love.
*The Night Ones cannot have true love because of their eternal devotion to Evil.
*They believe the Old Powers are slowly awakening and is causing people to find their True Love more than ever, amore*
*Old Powers?*
*The Old Powers are ancient forces of magic that existed since the creation of mankind.
*It’s not a person. It is a supremely powerful force that is all around us.
"No one can control the Old Powers. It can be used for both Good and Evil*
*They are believed that the Powers are behind the Soulmate Principle. Which means….
*That the Night Wars are coming…*
*Night Wars?”
*Night Wars were epic battles that happened at least every 10,000 years between different species of the Night Ones.
*Every 10,000 years way before they had formed into a society, the vampires were on war with the witches, and
*10,000 years after that, the shapeshifters were on war against both the vampires and the witches.
*Rumors are going around that the Night Wars will come again at the end of the
*millennium and that the Night Ones will bring the end of the world to all humans so they can take over once more.
They are tired that the humans have taken over for too long. It’s the reason why the Night Wars existed since Creation*
Flickered shadows swayed in and out of the cool darkness eerily, cascading its shadows delicately through the night.
*The End Of The Millenium is in six months from now* Angel whispered eerily in her mind.
*Is this why the Old Powers are rising again?*
*…Yes…*
The plunging, ominous darkness that loomed before them instilled a deeper fear through Buffy’s soul.
Silver kissed light cascaded and flickered through the shadowed lifeless trees that emanated danger and menace.
The airy mists billowed hauntingly through the dark of night eerily while the cool
breeze caressed Buffy’s cheeks delicately, the howls of wolves piercing the
darkness, breaking the bleak silence the instilled throughout the forbidden forest.
A presence was hidden in flickering shadows nearby.
Leaves rustled and swirled in the cool breeze, falling gracefully from the night skies above.
Buffy felt eyes on her from the shadowed, lifeless trees that loomed before her.
“Someone’s here,” she whispered to Angel, her heart pounding rapidly against her chest, fear
blossoming on her delicate face that glimmered under the silver brilliance of the moon above.
The swaying shadow that flickered before her between the eerie, lifeless trees loomed more closer and closer.
Before she could even blink her eyes to sway the darkness before
her away, Angel stood in front of her protectively, his sensuous lips
curling into a dangerous smile that only made him look more
dangerously handsome under the moonlight that shimmered.
The dark shadows edged closer and closer, purring seductively through the darkness.
The shadow’s flickering face shimmered under the silver moonlight, revealing
the presence of a very beautiful female ninja that radiated extreme power cascading her.
“Angel, long time no see,” she purred in a soft, tinkling voice, revealing a
Kitana sword that shimmered wickedly under the silver moonlight that even radiated its own power.
“Kestrel, what the hell are you doing here?” Angel whispered, looking
even more dangerously handsome under the moonlight.
Tendrils of Kestrel’s long, beautiful, dark hair glistened and swayed in the cool breeze.
She gave him a predatory grin, sharp fangs protruding from her seductive mouth. She was a vampire.
“She’s a vampire,” Buffy whispered in awe.
“That’s right Buffy. I am. But I’m a Good one. Not a Night One. You don’t have to be afraid of me,” Kestrel whispered
in a friendly grin, standing before her with shadows flickering her
dangerously beautiful face, taking Buffy’s hand in her own.
“It’s finally nice to meet you Buffy Summers. Or should I say, Angel’s true love? His Soulmate?” Kestrel teased with a wicked smile.
“How do you know?” Buffy whispered.
“Besides being a bloodthirsty hunter in the night, I’m also a witch. I know everything, cupcake.”
“She *is* my Soulmate but what the hell are you doing here anyways?” Angel whispered, taking Buffy’s slender hand in his tenderly.
“I heard about what happened to your brother. I’m really sorry for your loss,” Kestrel whispered softly.
“Thanks. So why are you here?”
“The Leader sent me here. We need your help. There’s been more rumors going
“On about the Night Wars and the Millenium but there’s more to it.
"Our agents say the Night Ones are planning something big before the Millenium hits.”
“Like what?”
“Something big that has to do with your Soulmate there.”
“What??”
“Our agents say the Leader of the Night Ones is searching for her, something about bringing her to their side instead of ours. That’s all I know.”
“You mean they’re after me?” Buffy whispered fearfully.
“Sadly yes. That’s why I’m here so we can take you someplace safe,” Kestrel whispered quietly.
“But we must go. They haven’t discovered that we know what they’re planning. We have to get out of here now.
“This will be the place where the Night Wars will take place. We need to get out of here before the Evil Powers here began to resurface before the Night Wars.”
“Where will we be going?” Angel asked quietly.
“To the headquarters of the Day Ones,” Kestrel whispered.
Even with shadows flickering around her, she still looked even more dangerously beautiful than ever.
Eerily beautiful.
“There’s another secret society?” Buffy whispered, tendrils of blond hair swaying in the cool breeze.
Leaves swirled around her slim form and fell gracefully to tendrils of blond hair still swaying.
Buffy didn’t flinch.
“Yes,” Kestrel smiled wickedly, tossing her Kitana blade that shimmered wickedly.
“A society of vampires, witches, and shapeshifters, but unlike the Night Ones, we try to do Good, not Evil.”
“Unlike the Night Ones, we can walk through the sunlight, harmless. We can even eat regular food if we like.
“We can enter churches and crosses don’t harm us one bit. In fact, it makes us more powerful. Holy water doesn’t harm us either. Neither do garlic. All those things can harm the Night Ones because of their eternal devotion to Evil.
“If they fail their master, either they are destroyed forever or their powers
“will become much more weaker, making them almost defenseless against the Day Ones.”
Silence plunged into the eerie darkness that was the forest.
Cries of crickets, crows, and owls, pierced the cool cloak of night quietly.
“But I’m afraid since the Night Wars are getting much more closer, the Night Ones
“will become more powerful, develop more powers because of the Old Powers that are rising.”
“The Old Powers can be used for Good or for Evil,” Angel whispered to himself.
Kestrel nodded solemnly with a grim smile tugging her perfect lips in the dark shadows.
“Even if the Night Ones are developing more powers, so are we. Almost everyone
"back at the headquarters tell me they feel like they’re getting more stronger, developing their own powers.”
Then Buffy heard a chill laughter that sent chills down her spine.
More shadows flickered through a mysterious presence that stood before them.
Another cloak figure perhaps?
“You’ll never defeat the Night Ones,” the gloomy voice pierced through the night.
“Soon, the Night Wars will come once more and every human and Day One will be destroyed forever and we will take over and rule again.”
Kestrel and Angel stood side by side, smirking with such arrogance and dangerous beauty.
Together, they looked eerily, uncannily beautiful under the
radiance of the silver moon, and it took Buffy’s breath away.
Wisps of airy smoke caressed her while cries of night animals continue to sing in nightly symphony.
Even from afar, Buffy could feel the very powerful aura of theirs radiated
through the darkness of the woods, cloaking Buffy, feeling safe under the eeriness of the ominous forest.
*Be careful* she whispered to Angel’s mind lovingly, as if he was tenderly precious to her.
He truly was. Almost like an beautiful avenging angel.
*I will* his words tickled across her mind softly.
Leaves and fallen branches crackled underneath her as she hid behind
one of the shadowed, lifeless trees, her hazel eyes peering through the darkness.
“If it isn’t the Day Ones looking all high and mighty,” the eerie
voice crackled, shadows continued to flicker across his eerie face.
Right before her eyes, Buffy glanced and saw both Angel and Kestrel disappearing
into the darkness, their soft laughter bicking tauntingly through the night air around the Night One.
“Where the hell are you? I will get you for this Day Ones!” The Night One
whispered silently, his ominous clear blue eyes searching through the darkness for any sign of them.
Wisps of breath escaped Buffy’s own lips carefully as she hid under the ghostly airy mists that cloaked her.
Everything in the night was still and silent.
Until she heard loud growls emancipated a few feet away from her in the ominous trees.
“Where are you? I will kill you!!” The stranger growled.
Then she heard more growls that pierced the cool still of the night.
The stranger stopped, heavy wisps of minty breath escaping from his lips, trembling in complete fear.
Growls emancipated just a few feet from behind him and he slowly turned around in fear.
Standing before him where the familiar presence of the beautiful black
jaguar, radiating with pure danger and menace that Buffy herself felt the fear rising in her.
It was even more manacing and more dangerous looking than ever before, and it wasn’t alone.
A large, beautiful white Siberian tiger stood next to the panther, licking
its canine teeth dangerously, growling that shook the stranger to the bones.
A wicked smile tugged at Buffy’s lips, awe and enjoyment blossoming on her face.
Both dangerously beautiful animals growled, their lithe bodies kissed
with the beautiful silver moon kisses, stalking towards the stranger silently.
The eerie stranger backed up into a lifeless, shadowed tree with fear
etched in his clear blue eyes, tossing fallen branches at the exotic animals futilely.
The wicked smile on Buffy’s delicate face continued to tug at each corner
of her lips as she quietly walked behind the exotic animals
with a leearing sneer in her eyes, savoring the moment.
She squealed delightfully in evil glee as the animals were about to pounce on the Night One.
There was no way out. He was trapped between the animals and the slim form of Buffy.
“You’ll pay for this, with your lives,” he snarled at Buffy with hatred and rage seething from his evil aura.
All Buffy could do was smile and wave at the Night One cheerily under the radiant silver glow.
“Bye,” she said cheerily, and that was when the animals pounced on him as he
fell against the fallen branches, struggling to kick the animals
away from his body but they were too powerful.
At least 300 pounds of animal fury were slashing his face, their canine
teeth piercing his neck and his chest as cries of howling and pain broke the silence of the cold night.
The wicked smile continued to grow evilly on Buffy’s own cool lips, savoring the moment as if it were her last.
Droplets of blood seeped through the stranger’s body, dripping like drops of rain into fallen branches and leaves.
Soon, everything in the forest was still and silent.
Owls, crickets, and crows continue to sing in nightly symphony
through the darkness as if nothing had happened below them.
The cries of pain and howling stopped as well.
Only silence lingered.
The wicked smile still tugged at Buffy’s lips as she quietly walked towards the animals, where
they were still feeding on the lifeless body that no longer struggled.
“You guys can stop now,” Buffy giggled for the first time in ages.
Both of the beautiful animals turn to look at her with almost human like stares, and it warm Buffy to the touch.
The animals obeyed her command and walked quietly towards her, placing both of her hands on their soft fur.
It was somewhat cool that her Soulmate can transform into a dangerously
beautiful animal where she could pet its fur and feel safe at the same time.
The thought of it brought a crimson blush to her cheeks despite the coolness of the night.
“Is it safe?” the girl that was hiding all along in the foreboding shadows
finally revealed herself, fear etched in her cinnamon eyes
at the sight of the two dangerous animals glancing her way.
“Don’t worry, they won’t harm you,” Buffy comforted, keeping her
slim hand on the jaguar’s soft head. Or rather, her *Soul mate’s* head.
Then the amazing thing happened.
They transformed.
Standing side by side, Angel’s human hand clutched Buffy’s
protectively, placing a kiss to her hand gently that sent tingles down her spine.
“Are you all right amore?” Angel asked tenderly.
“Yes.”
“You should of stayed away when we’re feeding. Animals don’t like that,” he whispered, kissing her lips softly.
“I know. I couldn’t help myself,” Buffy whispered, blushing.
“It’s ok love. When I’m in my animal form, I still know that you’re my Soulmate. I wouldn’t hurt you.”
Buffy’s cheeks went from crimson red to tomato red.
“What a tender moment. But we should leave. I sense there’s more of
"*them* out there looking for us,” Kestrel whispered, looking eerily gorgeous in the night.
Were all Day Ones like her and Angel this eerily beautiful?
“Is she one of us?” The girl whispered warily.
“Yes, she’s one of us. She’s Good. Don’t worry. We’re getting out of here,” Buffy comforted.
All four of them took off.
Behind them the largest crow ever seen in Sunnydale flapped its dark black wings in the darkness, its
brown eyes gazing at the trespassers that were walking away from the forbidden forest.
Cawing loudly, it flapped its wings once more under the silver moon and flew away…
