"Deck the halls with bowls of holly!" sang Giles as he came downstairs, "Wake up!"
"Five more minutes dad," grumbled Wesely.
"Alright, I suppose you all can open presents later."
"Presents? No no no! Wanting presents!" said Cordy who was now wide awake.
"They're all under the tree."
There was a mad rush to the tree. Soon paper was every where and smiles longer then the Nile River were on the faces of everyone.
"Oz!" squealed Willow, "I can't believe you did this!" He'd made his band's first demo and dedicated it to her.
While everyone was still opening presents, Angel pulled Buffy aside.
"What's up?" she asked.
"I just wanted to give you your present without...all that."
He handed her a small box with a bow on top. Buffy opened it and her eyes grew big as she saw what was inside.
"It's real silver, so you r neck won't turn green or anything."
"Angel..wow...wow."
It was a silver cross.
"You can return it if you..."
"What what what? Who said anything about returing?"
"You like it?"
"I love it."
He helped her put on the necklace and gave her a kiss before they went back to the tree.
Giles came in the room and saw the sea of wrapping paper, "I see everyone's opened presents."
"Oh, there's one more for you B." said Faith handing Buffy the last present.
"Who's it from?"
Everyone shook there heads.
"Maybe the card's on the inside," suggested Fred.
Buffy tore off the wrapping paper and opened the box.
"What is it?" asked Faith.
"It's a locket. With no picture in it."
"And it's shaped like a heart," observed Cordy, "someone has a secret admirer."
Buffy quickly put the locket back in the box, "It was probably from Riley. No big deal."
"Yeah," murmered Spike, "no big deal."
They went toboganing and everyone soon forgot about the locket mystery.
"Connor! Don't even think about it! AHHHHH!" he threw a snow ball at her, "Oh you are soooooo dead!" She ran after him laughing.
They kept chasing one and other for a while and eventually ended up in a small forest.
"Okay Dawn, where are you? Dawn? Dawn?"
"Got cha!" she jumped out from behind a tree and pushed him down, "pined ya."
"I can't believe I got beat by a girl."
"Just be glad no one was here to see it."
"Good point. So you gonna let me up?"
"Right." she stood up and pulled Connor off the ground. Then he pushed her on the ground.
"Pined ya."
"No fair!"
"All's fair in love and war."
"So which is this?"
He hesitated a minute, "I-I'm not really sure."
"Me either."
"So can we just forget that and kiss?"
"Works for me."
As they kissed, Dawn relized something: It wasn't going to last.
'He's leaving in two weeks. I'm never gonna see him again.'
Trying to ignore the tears that were forming in her eyes Dawn broke the kiss, "We should probably get back."
"Right, don't want your mother popping out from behind a tree or something."
"Yeah."
They went back to the house and watched cable until everyone got back.
"So what do we do now?" asked Xander.
"No more movies!" said Doyle, "If I have to sit through one more sing-a-long..."
"Fine fine, so what do we do? The fire works don't start for another four hours."
"We could have a snowball fight!"
"Good idea!" said Anya, "Girls on boys?"
"Works for me." said Faith.
The girls got up, put on thier coats and ran out the door.
Spike, Xander, Oz and Wesely just gave Doyle dirty looks.
"What?"
"They are going to tear us to pieces." said Wesely.
"Come on, can't take a bunch of girls?"
"Oh we can take a bunch of girls mate," said Spike, "just not this one."
The girls won and the boys...let's just say they wouldn't be telling anyone how bad they lost.
They were there when the first fire work went off.
"Spike you okay?" asked Dawn.
"I'm fine bit. Why?"
"Well the fact that the girl you were using to make Buffy jelous tried to have her killed by a gang just might have brought a normal person down."
"Yeah well it just shows you. Don't bother goin' into a relationship if you can't stand the bird."
"That's pretty much a given."
"Guess so."
They watched the rest of the fire works, well some of them did, some just made out the whole time. Dawn forgot about what she'd come to relizie in the forst until they started walking home.
'They're really gonna go.'
Connor saw the sad look on her face and gave her hand a reasuing squeeze. Dawn smiled back and thought, 'Guess I should make the best of it.'
I know it's not all that happy, but it makes the story a bit more realistic. Review please!
